I read Mr Gadd being released next year after serving HALF of his 16 year sentence.

He does not strike me as one who had much in the way of remorse exactly.

Maybe he is a new man now and looking to become clean and serve the community.

He might have seen Jesus

Why do I have the feeling that the words ‘barrister, shameless, sleep, night, how, they, at and can’ are unstoppably rolling down the hill towards this sentence?

The answer is that is what the law was when he was sentenced. It wouldn’t be now. He would be classed as a dangerous offender and would only be released when deemed safe.

Well you say that and its a fair point, but they are leaving a dangerous man out now what happens with this situation, do we wait for his next inevitable offence in which he causes serious harm and lifelong trauma to yet another poor soul?

What needs to happen is for someone to take him out for a nice little boat trip out into the sea where is very deep water and fit him with some heavily weighted boots and chuck the vile piece of scum overboard.

And the question the Law should be asking is why does he walk free with having served half his sentence.
People want to know why they only serve 50% of a sentence,.

By definition, paedophiles are devious and clever and play the system t perfection.

I may be wrong but I doubt Mr Gadd 's sexual preferences have changed which makes every young kid a possible victim.
Now what the Law need to do is to ask itself why young children are put at risk again.

Society makes the Law,nobody else. We pass then,we recind them.

This is the sentence that was passed at the time. It’s a simple as that.

It is not the law now.

It doesn't matter, the facts are that a dangerous man is being released after serving only half his sentence, what's changed to make the people who will sign his release papers to make them think that he won't offend again, he was jailed for seriously serious offences, its all to late when he does reoffend which he will, cause he's done so before.

It does matter as at the time he was sentenced, the law stated he would be automatically released at half way.

Again, this is not my moral view, it’s what the law was at the time.

John, I get all that, my point is that a seriously dangerous man to children is being released, what are the safeguards being put in place to protect children from him.

If the Law has changed obviously for the better then it should apply to those in the position of individuals like this vile perverted piece of vermin, for the protection of those he'll be a threat to.

The problem is John that morality is key regarding this man.

He is toxic and should really never have seen freedom again

The Law can be changed.

Ok.

All I’m saying is, law cannot be moved on a case by case basis.

Of course I’ve kept it respectful.

At the end of the day, who is gonna keep the children safe from this vile perverted creature?

The law is there to do that I thought, but how many times have these breed of people been released to do the same or worse again, with another innocent life lost or severely traumatised along with the victims Family/families having to do the impossible and rebuild their lives.

Its a shocking disgrace..

Forget the law whatever that bizarrely means this day and age.

Who is gonna keep children safe from him once he's released ????

He may tow the line for a time, but he'll offend again, you probably know that more than me after your experiences in the Job you do.

I may be wrong here but isn’t there the power available for the PM/Home secretary to directly intervene on sentences? I vaguely remember some controversy over one of the Home Secretary’s (can’t remember who, maybe Blunkett?) getting involved and increasing some sentence or other. And Gordon brown got involved to release the Lockerbie bomber bloke.

Absolutely, at the time of the offence, the AG can refer the sentence to the Court of Appeal as being unduly lenient.

Can’t be done just because they don’t want him released, if that’s automatic.

Isn’t six years considered unduly lenient considering he was convicted of raping a child, the attempted rape of another and several other assaults on top of his previous convictions?

Seems pretty lenient to me.

Ross McCullam has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 23 years for the murder of his colleague Megan Newborough. The 30-year-old lab technician strangled Newborough, 23, and cut her throat at his parents' house in Leicstershire before dumping her in nearby woodland.

If he serves the full 23 years, he'll be out when he's 53 years old, whilst Megan will be in the ground for eternity, that doesn't seem fair to me.

Min of 23 years. On average they serve at least 8-9 more than the min.

Don’t know enough about the case. If he pleaded guilty, at what stage, therefore what discount. He got 16 not 6.

It wasn’t considered unduly lenient or it would have been referred up.

He will be very closely monitored. He will
Be subject to a sexual harm prevention order, any breach and he will
Be back inside.

He will definitely be monitored closely, he’s a high profile individual and the authorities will be pouring over his case. The monitoring of sex offenders varies from Force to Force, while they’ll all have it as a priority some invest a lot more resources than others. I’d imagine if he even so much as looks at a child he’ll have his collar felt.

Closely monitored.
So that ok then?
Are they going to be monitoring him 24/7 wherever he goes.
Why does the Law allow our kids to be at risk and risk they are because they is no way of KNOWING any paedophile is safe. Detach yourself from your job and can you not understand where the uneducated man in the street is coming from.
Gadd should have been chemically castrated but this is seen as ,what, assault and we are more civilised than that.
Well,we are not. The world is full of these vile creatures who pray on the vulnerable.

Laws need to change and not in a liberal way.

We either protect children or we do not.

Its that simple

No excuse under "The Law" will wash.
