I think you're right , he's been in he game long enough to know what to say and when to say it . although I would be surprised if it came to fruition , Norwich have a plan , an acceptance of being a yo yo Club building slowly building to have a sustained run in the PL

Martin dropped Benda last year because they couldn't get the goal kicks right with him in goal. Fisher bought in, same problem even with, our new defenders this year Benda's returning played to his strengths less goals conceded but now reverting back to the old goal kick routine. This goal kick routine only works when the player receiving the ball is given options Yesterday Darling is too close when taking the goal kick to Benda and then does not move far enough away to give Benda options Benda old response to this would be clear the ball up the field instead of his now coached response of a stupid pass that results in a goal. This is one hundred percent down to the coaching or in Darling case, lack of coaching. Fisher and now Benda have all been coached to play poor passes. Darling has previously been too close to the goal keeper when receiving the ball that should have been seen to by coaching but apparently not. Picked out Darling and Benda cases but it could be any of our defenders. Mistakes like these have happened under other managers but not with the frequency. A Manager who was once a defender cannot sort these defensive errors out, they keep on happening?
| Martin's motivationsl qualities laid bare on 11:22 - Dec 28 with 1947 views | Dr_Winston | For short defensive passes to work you need a deep midfield that can turn and play through the lines. Leon Britton was a master at it. Grimes a shabby imitation. If you don't have that then you can't do it, or you run the risk of being perpetually caught out. I know banging the drum about Grimes can be tedious, but he's symptomatic of our problems. No team built around him will ever consistently play fast paced, attacking football. Grimes should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Leon Dr. | | | |
| Martin's motivationsl qualities laid bare on 12:15 - Dec 28 with 1850 views | RichardO | These goal kick routines aren't short defensive passes carried out unexpectedly to easy pressure from uncoordinated opposition presses. They are supposedly coached into to players but the first rule should be the Goal Kick routine should only be carried out when safe to do so and not when teams are coordinated to counter. | | | |

I thought, after Darling's error, Benda had tried to pass to the unmarked Grimes which is pass he often makes but the captain (ðŸƒ) walked away from the ball and a closely marked and unsuspecting Allen had to try to retrieve the situation. I really don’t mind the play outs and the posession football, it’s our pedestrian midfield that destroys our chances. That said we should have scored at least three more last night and had b6 far the better chances.

Both Allen and Grimes had players marking them and either could have been the intended recipient, congested in middle so pass should never be play over that distance, gives time for opposition to press effectively. Grimes too slow, Allen getting on and has to do too much work for Grimes same as Downes had too last year. Put Ntcham in the middle with runners and ball winners around him and make sure the midfield is fluid and interchangeable when in possession of the ball and solid in defensive formation when not in possession not Prefer Grimes further up the park out of harms way. We saw under Cooper, Grimes and Hourihane slowed the game and ineffective in the midfield while Fulton/Smith battled to keep us in games. Grimes dropping too deep when under pressure and sitting too deep when we try high press either way allows teams to ditacte play.

I’m surprised it hasn’t got to the point where teams are deliberately giving us goal kicks by booting the ball out because its a fantastic opportunity for them to score.

it'll come , believe me , everything we do has been more than effectively countered by the opposition so why not that aspect of our play

My mistake. Just looked at replays. Neither Allen nor Grimes were marked when the ball was played in their direction.

It’s why we are the easiest team to play. We actually have the ball but past backwards or sideways mainly. If Grimes passes it forward ,he either passes it to the opposition or gets caught out in possession . All teams need to do is to sit back and literally wait for us to pass the ball to them If they get a corner, chances are they will score as Benda s confidence is draining away ,clearing the way for Fisher s retrurn, which is what Martin wants ,as fish is his player . I feel for Finn Stevens,Oxi Flex, simply shockingly treated but if we question this we are told it’s down to their attitude .

It is actually both. Martin chose to replace hard nut Bidwell with Laird then Sorinola. Both these players are technical but weak. Bidwell was strong and prepared to get hit by the ball. Martin replaced hard nut Roberts ( brave as they come) with Manning who is forward oriented and careless at times. Roberts was prepared to get hurt and did the horrible stuff. Manning is already minded to leave and should be pushed to the exit immediately. Martin plays 3 young centre backs. It was his choice. Bennett was not replaced with a bruiser. Martin has Grimes as his captain who is not loaud and passionate and will not rip up a player not doing his job. Martin knows this. Martin stated the players were not athletic enough to deal with Forest and Bournemouth last season. Reading went rough last season at 1-4 and Swansea could not cope. They still cannot by his own admission. So why is Sorinola and Stevens at the club and why is Manning at WB?.
