Not getting the rub of the green at present and costly individual errors are too prevalent. Played some lovely one and two touch pass and move football though and controlled the game. It’s all about the onion bag though. Anyone at Oldham for our first league game in League one when we lost 1-2 will understand. You don’t always get what you deserve.

I can’t recall the penalty incident. Too much cider before the game after a late night at.Bredbury Hall.😀 It was around 2008.Think it was Jason Scotland debut. Plus Angel Rangel , Ferrie Bodde. De Vries. etc. We are now just 2/3 players away from being a good team. The way we played at Millwall showed lots of positives. The style was good, we created chances. I thought Millwall were very lucky to win. But we also need to be stronger defensively. That much is obvious and that includes the goalkeeping. It’s such a vital position on the pitch. A mistake and the ball invariably ends up in the net. 😩

That’s not at all how I saw the Millwall game but it would be a dull world indeed if everyone agreed about everything, so well done for having a refreshingly different point of view. You say we are 2/3 players away from realising Martin’s grand plan. But you also acknowledge that our biggest problem is our defence. Given that this is the one area of the pitch where Martin has come closest to realising his vision, with Fisher, Darling, Wood and Sorinola all his personal choices, I wonder what gives you confidence that bringing another 2/3 players of that quality into the squad will make a positive difference?

Also highlighted how this squad (with the right management) should be in the top 6 alongside the Millwalls of this world this season.

The Oldham game was the 07-08 opening day of the season. The fantastic League One title season with Roberto and Graeme

I meant the first game in league one, the season we won The league title. Was at Oldham when we outplayed them and yet lost the game 1-2.

But I didn’t say if that quality We need a better goalkeeper, another centre back and a wide player with pace. The nucleus is there though and that’s encouraging. Even in defeat I enjoyed our performance at Millwall. You need to watch a game with an open mind. Don’t look for negative things always. Of course we are on a very bad run of results but earlier in the season we were in the top six and playing well. Their confidence seems a bit low at the moment but that can change quickly.

Incredible headbutter of fellow pro’s is Graeme. I saw him in action at Bristol Rovers years ago.

Head butting is a much under rated skill for an assistant but given the choice I would plump for strangulation in the Alan Tate mould.
