The reasons as we know ( in the main ) are that Southampton are stating they are a championship club so the higher ‘premier league’ clause for Martin’s release doesn’t apply.  1

It really is time for this to be brought to a conclusion everyone needs to move on. As I see it RM is finished at our club and if this move fails it will probably be a move to another championship club for him. If this was to be the case we would only get the lower compensation fee at best. Realism needs to rule and common sense prevail. |  | | |

My take on it we are right to ask for the full amount.
Their sales and parachute payments will be huge compared to the compo.
But if they are that reluctant to pay this relatively small amount they will not want to pay top dollar for our players either.
The owners are right on this one if we don't get the correct price put Martin and co on gardening leave like Cooper and take it from there.
As long as it does not affect our search for a manager why should we pander to Martin or the Saints.
Chances are another Championship club will come in for him if Southampton don't pay up and our owners know this.

That's a fair point but with the additional cash coming into the club they may have a slightly different outlook.
But yes if they are not prepared to employ someone else whilst Russ is on leave a compromise needs to be reached. | |

Yes sorry getting my dates mixed up in my head when did Cooper join Forest & Martin join us.
It did bugger up our pre season though it was Martins top excuse for finishing 15th and there were plenty of them.

Yes we can't let it affect our pre season but if we have to wait a couple more weeks and in the meantime get our succession planning sorted it's all good.

There needs to be a time where compromise must be reached or the whole process becomes destructive.
My view is that they pay the Championship rate but if they are promoted to the PL with RM at the helm then they pay the difference then,

I could be wrong but thought Cooper was looking at part of the pre season up in England and when forest came in they agreed to pay the compo and then the deal was concluded but i honestly do not think Swansea paid for cooper and Martin at the same time was all included in the compe, but of course i could be wrong. | | | |

Swansea have every right to demand the PL club fee compensation, Southampton will not be a championship club until the season starts, technically right now they’re still a PL club with PL club contracts with sponsors and everything else, they should be paying the PL price, this is Southampton trying to pull a fast one, Swansea need to stand firm, in layman's terms Southampton are taking the piss |  | | |

We have history of just being absolute a mess in regards to negotiating things and just ignoring and pushing the other series issues to one side. When it comes to money then it wil be the be all and end all, everything else can just wait and they should have by now learned from their past mistakes.
My worry is, these players they gave ready and waiting to sign could get fed up and just move on, even the new manager might not want these players.
