Many still enjoy it. The wonderment in young children's eyes is amazing, it's a part of growing up.

As is the losing of limbs ,general destruction and disorder .
Part of growing up was getting thrashed at school with a slipper (dap)
Have a look at the assaults of police in Edinburgh, the firework throwing at fire fighters and ambulance crews .
It’s like mischief night with fire .

No deterrents see and the police would prefer to be dressed up in rainbow colours at an LGBT shindig than fighting crime

Those are acts of vandalism in Edinburgh that should be stamped out, but not a reason to stop children enjoying firework nights. The many events that are the often one of the village highlights that bring the community together should not be banned because of these idiots.

Disagree completely with your thinking
Edinburgh is just a stand out example
I see nowt wrong with organised firework displays but dint believe they should be sold to general public.
Let’s be honest, it doesn’t take much excuse for us to act like idiots .
I’ve not mentioned pets either and why they should suffer for “ us” to have fun by setting off exploding colours in the sky

I disagree and have made my point, I will leave it there.

I dislike it personally. I live in a semi rural area and I know the local farmer is not happy at all with fireworks going off. Also many pets get absolutely stressed. Finally we are still celebrating in part the persecution of the Catholic population.

Nuts really
An excuse for social disorder
This morning, many will be regretting it minus a digit or two or a nasty disfiguring burn.
Not worth it IMO.
Is this really how we want our kids to enjoy things

We had a great time - apart from the rain. Set off fireworks out the back, had hot dogs and burgers, the kids loved it. Next doors dogs were fine too. No big displays for us, where you can't park and huge traffic jams. we did it the way we always have done

Edinburgh just highlights the state of our country & the people who have no respect for police or property, all of them are scummy scrouts.

I hate bonfire night only due to the fact it stresses my dog but that's not a reason to ban it.

Police are not respected for a reason.

Police are not respected for a reason.

Mainly because of cowardice retreating from scum which they should be smashing
People need to feel safe
Well, do ya?

I don't feel the police are doing a good job in protecting the public. They are more concerned with closing ranks and looking after themselves

Closing ranks!
You’re kidding yourself
Those on the streets left to deal with a public like ours are hung out to dry by senior officers and Home Office .
Those at the sharp end have long since given up and are leaving in drives .
The reason for lack of respect is the fact that they are not doing their jobs properly which means pain for criminals .

Guy Fawkes night does have a serious purpose though. It’s to celebrate the fact we don’t have religious nut jobs trying to blow everything up any more.

It’s a good enough reason to ban it in my book.

Think a good compromise would just to have official displays at specific times.

I know someone who was threatened with violence in front of her terrified kids by an off duty paramedic. All on cctv. No charged at all. The officer said to the victim, we are not going to arrest her, but we would arrest you. I
Kid you not, this is true. There is a complaint ongoing, not that I’m holding my breath

So now, paramedics are all demons .

Police , paramedics, why not firefighters. They can terrify with all that uniform and equipment

Hope you don’t a paramedic when having a heart attack . He might be nasty .

100% agree
Thought 5th November was Sunday ?
Yet 11p.m. Monday fireworks going off in the vicinity scaring the hell out of my poor dog and no doubt many in my local area.
Someone needs to have a word with these "kids"
Anyone who doubts the effect they have on dogs should speak to Jill Trick and the local dog pound who will confirm the massive number of dogs lost and found this weekend after bolting terrified with this excuse for entertainment

The minority wants to dictate to the majority again. Maybe the owners should keep their dogs safe. next doors dogs were fine, wasn't a problem for responsible owners
