Won’t please everyone and he’s bound to have that thrown in his face when we lose a couple. Some people still can’t get over Martin.
He’s taken it to the wire with the PSG of non league though and is in the playoffs with a 50% win rate with a promoted team.
Successful, attractive football, albeit at a lower level. Hopefully he’s more the anti-Duff than Martins second coming.

If he goes with a back four we are decent in defence, how Rushworth would adapt is another matter. Tymon in my opinion is improving greatly and with a fit Key the full backs are sorted. Cabango, Humphries, Dalling, Wood (although I expect him to go this month) pick any two for the middle and that's quite solid. I hate a back three. I know it seems to be the standard these days, but if you don't have very high quality players to play it then it's absurdly easy to come unstuck. We didn't have very high quality players, and to complicate things chose to add dumbass high risk defensive passing into the mix.
As soon as we stopped doing both we actually looked pretty solid in defence. His choices there will go a long way towards whether or not he'll be a success. | |

One of the earliest and least subjective criticisms levelled at Martin was that he hadn’t achieved anything at MK Dons.
Ok it’s National league, but Williams got over 100 points in his first season. There must be some substance there, I can’t see Martins approach being that consistent at any level.

First and foremost Williams is a good fit for our club and our preferred playing style for which we are well known. Dominating the ball, possession based with interchanging of positions and an emphasis on getting players forward he has the ability and strength of character to be a success if he’s supported by the owners. That means trying to reverse the recent trend at our club which is to sell our best players. I’m concerned. Our squad need strengthening we all can see that so it’s imperative that he gets support to do that. | |

Agree with that, only when he ditched the ridiculous high risk, low reward defending did results improve , but always had the feeling he couldn't wait to revert as soon as he felt he'd bought enough time. |  | | |

Yep. There were several occasions where he switched, results improved, then as soon as the pressure eased he went right back to doing his usual thing.
It's perhaps the major reason why I've got little patience with the "The Squad was weak! We should have backed him!" nonsense. He knew well enough that he could do better with what he had. | |

run of 23 games and only 3 wins 2 of which against 10 men.
If he was such a great coach why did it take so long to get that much quoted late run of results from the same set of players he had had all season and some for the season before too.
