Swansea City : Behind the news on Kim Hellberg coming to Swansea 12th Nov 2025 08:00
Well, good morning to you all. Having soaked up social media to the extent it became laughable we now once again have a club with no head coach / manager. As it stands and let’s be honest that can change in the next few minutes we have Darren O’Dea in the hot seat facing whatever comes next. 0

Very decent rep, click above.

"Let’s get that right, nobody really could have argued at the time when Sheehan was given the job. Some did, and are now rejoicing at the mess Swansea City are in with ‘I told you so’ posts. Revelling in the situation a club they claim to support is in another tight spot after so much good news and hope from the summer. "

Spot on.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

This is the kind of signing I’d like to see, although it would take time to integrate and we’d probably be writing yet another season off as ‘consolidation’.

Getting someone from the merry go round is most likely to lead to mid table finishes until he gets sacked or poached.

I’m pretty sure the likes of Rodgers are out of our reach.

I do get the ‘we need someone with experience of this division’ argument, I’m just not sure experienced managers with the ability to compete with the bigger budget clubs are likely to come here.

Some weirdo's may be revelling for sure.
However I am one voice for sure that never wanted him to have the job full time and was very vocal at the time that he was not the right man for the job. Although once given the job i have let his football do the talking and it's stunk the place out. I'm gutted we are 18th with this squad and now having to spend potential transfer outlay we had lined up for Jan on sacking AS and getting in a new man.

Especially when the new manager if it is the right one will cost a fair penny.

The question remains how Sheehan who deserved the job last season purely on results can perform so poorly this season. Did the senior players Allen and Naughton have a large input or was it Mark Fotheringham. Either way Sheehan deserved the job and deserved to go.

A little update on Mark Fotheringham.

I wonder if anyone in the hierarchy is thinking they wished instead of having to payout on Sheehan and his backroom team now, that they had used that money to secure Lewis O'Brien who was such a massive part of our positive performances end of last season...

I dont think you realise how much it would have cost us to get o'brien, over double what we were prepared to pay him.

Anyway we have galbraith, who is imo a better player that o'brien.

O’Brien would have struggled with the way we’ve been playing
It’s the tactics Sheehan used that has cost us ,completely different to the way we played last season

Seldom, if ever are there unanimous opinions in football. Just look at the idiot on BBC HYS who said ‘I’d have Martin back. There, I’ve said it”. I had to read it a few times to ensure there was no irony in the post. There wasn’t. What do some people see.

I was one definitely in the Sheehan in camp but there’s no more clarity than hindsight.

Dear God, even OTJ is saying it makes sense on Wales Online. I thought he understood football? Clearly not! I’m at a loss

Good point, with no clarity around those who still remain and I can only think it’s whilst they get in a new man and his coaching staff requirements. Unless they are a way down the road in doing this already it isn’t a quick thing to do. If it’s Hellberg he is in a strong position to twist the Swans for maximum money. And make his position clear on who else he wants.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

I have a passing interest in Hammarby as two of my close friends are fans.

Hellborg has restored Hammarby as a force in Swedish football and taken them into Europe. I think they'll go one step further from 2nd next season and win the Allsvenskan for the first time since 2001. Already a hero to the Bajen faithful he would become a Legend and it's a realistic possibility.

Would he swap all that for a club 18th in the second tier in England that has a managerial merry go round, lower attendences, capacity etc...Stranger things have happened of course and he might want to do what Potter did in showcasing his skills for a crack at a Premier League job when one becomes available?

I'd love it to happen but I can't see it in all honesty. I think he'd be off his chump to come here at the moment and that's not running us down, it's just the reality of where we find ourselves....

Currently we have a terrible record of pay compensation, employ, sack and pay off. But granted we didn't pay compensation for Sheehan. Anyone who is decent will concider this and will want a contract which covers these eventualities and thats if they do come.

We may not be the only ones interested if we don't get him very early.

There is that of course but here it is:

OTJ backs Russ or Brendan for return

Owain Tudur Jones has been giving his thoughts on where the Swans should turn next, and says he can see the logic in bringing Brendan Rodgers or Russell Martin back to the club.

Both are out of work after leaving their respective Old Firm sides in Scotland, and both still carry some degree of popularity with sections of the Swans fanbase.

"They do say never go back, but I can see why Brendan Rodgers and Russell Martin would both be good appointments," Tudur Jones told the BBC.

"I think when it comes to Russell Martin, the crazy thing with that situation is that football is very much 'what have you done lately?' and probably around 12 months ago, Russell Martin would have been top of so many clubs' lists of appointments, certiainly in the Championship.

"Whereas, a bad experience at Rangers has obviously tainted the feeling towards him.

"But I still feel that he would be a good fit for the Swans. He will have learned from his experiences over the last 12 months, and arguably will arguably be a better manager than he was 12 months ago, regardless of those experiences.

"They say never go, but both with Brendan and Russ, both at different stages of their careers, both would make sense."

Technically both statements are true, but it should clarify that the "section of the Swans fan base" that still holds Russy with a degree of popularity is certifiably insane.
