If you can't go 45 minutes without a drink maybe you should just stay in the pub or go downstairs in the concourse and stop spoiling other people's enjoyment.

The last thing we want is for the place to become like a Rugby game, with idiots up and down and back and fore the bar every ten minutes, or spewing up in their seats, or tossing their drinks in the air if we score. It's performative nonsense from Burnham. Something he thinks that the "working classes" support, when he's done his level best to avoid them for decades.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

I can see your point of view, but there needs to be allowances. I can never understand why in hospitality you have to close the blinds/curtains when the game is on or take a drink outside to the box. Or when I watch a Cymru Premier match as I sometimes do, I can't finish a halftime drink bought in the clubhouse outside.

Nobody “ needs” a drink to enjoy a game , any game If one can’t then then there is an issue We have a massive addiction to alcohol as a country It underpins everything; births , weddings, death Many lose control haven imbibed Now imagine our Cardiff derby with fans allowed to bring in alcohol to their seats It is utterly an utterly damning indictment of our country

Well exactly What is worse that these clowns carrying trays of plastic with watered down pissse whose price has been pumped up because people are willing to pay through the nose as it’s a day out And yes, I’d ban it from rugby and cricket come to that

I think you have to appreciate the benifits of hospitality and cooperate sponsorship to clubs. Do you really think major sponsors invest hundreds of thousands into the club and don't expect benifits for their clients. Sometimes you need a basic understanding of finances to realise the importance of these dealings. In the West stand there are some major backers and they are very important to the club, we have multi nationals attending our games and they expect the best.
| Burnham wants to lift ban on drinking on 12:07 - Sep 24 with 3335 views | KeithHaynes | If there are ares that you can drink beer in then give it a go. If it is passed then make the wings of the south stand where you can do so. Not throughout the ground. Of course alcohol encourages certain bellends to cause trouble. The licensing officer through the police can monitor it and declare it proven or otherwise after say four home games. I’m neither for it or against it as it’s clearly something the unelected prime minister is doing for votes. | |

The ban comes from the EFL. Get ready for this. They claim that people watching on TV will be distracted and watch the hospitality boxes rather than the games. Sheer nonsense. Now the surprising bit. An application has been made to the EFL for a trial run, to see if it has any effect on the game at all. One of the main drivers is David Craddock, former owner of Llanelli Reds. He's a season ticket holder in the Alan Curtis Lounge and sees the madness first hand. Now the good news. The EFL has agreed for a trial run and the club chosen is ... Swansea City. The main beneficiary may well be the wheelchair users. It would be great for them to watch from the lounge, rather than struggle to get to their seat. Here's hoping!

It’s not something that appeals to me , the seat spacings are tight enough as it is and the thought of being drowned in some one else’s beer when ever we score or having to keep adjusting your position when the inevitable when they want another drink or toilet visit because what goes in has to come out .

That's my opinion too. I see plenty of stories from Cardiff about drunkards ruining other people's enjoyment, even stories about fights and when you watch Wales on the tv you see a lot of people more interested in their beer and being seen on the big screen. If anything ban all lcohol in the view of every playing surface. I'm sure he has more important things on his plate.

I’m afraid that is no justification We cannot drink sensibly Blair tried it when he abandoned licensing laws Why should hospitality necessitate alcohol Why is a good session still seen as a good day out I’m afraid it’s time we totally rethought the concept of hospitality Why do you think it was brought on Are we any better? Having a good pissssup is part and parcel of a good time Christ , people rack up pints at 6am at airports as part of the holiday Why! Because we’re on holiday

It completely stinks of "Andy Burnham King of the Common Man" because all good Northerners like nothing more than a Pie and a Pint at the Footy. It'll be compulsory Whippet and Ferret ownership next.

I wouldn’t have people taking trays of beers in - just the one they have. I wouldn’t be for changing the bar hours. Definitely keep it shut during game time. [Post edited 25 Sep 9:35]

This is just going to split opinion. Personally, I can go without a beer for 45 minutes and don’t fancy the prospect of a steady flow of people back and fore to the bar. It would be like the 5 minutes after halftime all game.

| Burnham wants to lift ban on drinking on 08:58 - Sep 26 with 2477 views | Whiterockin | If he wants to lift the blanket ban surely it has to be a good thing. Then leave it up to the individual stadium and local licensing authorities to determine individual clubs needs. As I say I have no issues with it being lifted in hospitality, then have a survey of season ticket holders in individual areas if they want it lifted for a trial there. Not everyone wanted safe standing but it is working where it is, but I wouldn't like to see it throughout the ground. | | | |

Fully agree- it is now ages since I went to watch an Autumn International or 6 Nations game. Although football is by far my main sporting interest I used to enjoy international rugby but it now lacks any decent atmosphere and a lot of the crowd have little interest in the game and, as you say, are back and forwards to the bar when they have paid over a £100 to watch the game. Please Burnham leave this alone
