Shipyard American IPA 18:36 - Oct 19 with 1124 viewsdickythorpe

Fair play a decent citrusy IPA from Portland, Maine.
Cold, rainy and damp outside - a perfect tipple with fire on.

Aye but 3× bottles for a Lady Godiva in the Co-op says differently 😎

Bargain 👍

It's from Burton isn't it?

It's one of the more common IPAs actually in Maine. I didn't drink it much when we lived over there, as there were tastier alternatives . But since we got back it's not a bad drop compared to our mass produced lagers. Mor sessionable than the 6%+ stuff for sure.

Our mass produced lagers are shit, I go for the Czech, German or Polish pilsners. Polish beer is very underrated and strong too

Staropramem - my go to beer of 2018 and 2019. I think it’s just about run it’s course so I am on the look out for the 2020 brew.

If I’m anywhere near a Waitrose then I will pick up a couple of Kaleidoscope (from Wiper & True) which was a recommendation from Dicky.

I tend to go for Pilsner Urquell, the original pilsner, and still one of the best imo

The two I have had recently which stood out for me were Lawless unfiltered lager (from Asda) and Disco Forklift Truck Mango IPA (on special at Aldi)

Grey Trees Brewery opened a bar in Aberdare called 'The National Tap'. Lots of new beers every week and a very big choice too. Worth a visit to my neck of the woods.

I like those little 6 pack cans of Birra Moretti. Had a major sesh on that in London last year, nephews wedding and it was a free bar.

Thank you, goodnight and bollocks

Jemima Pitchfork a pale ale by Glamorgan brewery. Tasty drop 4 bottles for £6 in Tesco, even better if you can find it on draught. In fact most of the Glamorgan brewery ales are excellent

Son has begun going to Slovakia with work and brought back some other Slovak lager, can't remember the name at the moment but like Urquell, it's good. Also been drinking Beavertown Neck Oil IPA. Very nice but didn't realise how expensive it is.

Any alcohol free beers that you'd recommend for beer free days? At the moment I'm trying Adnam's Ghost Ship but it's a bit citrus.

Ghost ship is a good after work beer. I’m a big fan of these at the moment https://arpusbrewing.co/
But apologies I can’t recommend an alcohol free beer

Brewdog Nanny State (low alcohol) and Punk AF (alcohol free) are by far the best I have had. Sainsbury’s Czech Alcohol free lager is decent and one of the German Wheat Beers. The rest mediocre to poor.
