That now probably three or four PS members who no longer post on here, how less fractious and contentious the site has become. Personally I wasn’t going to post on either site again due to the racist slurs by previous posters disguised as liberal viewpoints, accusations without foundation and basic cowardice when confronted. However, and I’ve no doubt there will be issues in the future but at least now the support guy has presented an environment where dialogue can be the winner.
As I said it’s clearly obvious now who the arseholes were on here and now they’ve gone it’s even more obvious that particular racist element were the issue. Good riddance, but I’m still looking forward to the day crowds can return to football. I’ll take a camera 😂😉
It’s not odd at all when you think about it. The split has led to a right leaning board here and left leaning board over there. There are a number of notable exceptions on both sites but I’m being broad brush.
Engaging in echo chambers is no good to anyone, to quote Mark Twain “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.“
It’s a time for doubt. There’s too much ‘certainty’ on both sites.

Maybe Glynn the real problem was intolerance of an alternative view. I have major beliefs in fighting racism, anti semitism, bullying, and basic principles of injustice. I also have a belief that if you can’t deal with a debate without abusing people like happened here continuously until it was met head on then maybe that person should read a bit more of Mark Twain ...
I’m in no way right or left but have experienced both sides politically and these Political terms are stooped in old man 80’s culture supported by people who are stuck in that time zone wanting Tony Benn or Margaret Thatcher to come back from the dead.
Politics has changed, Supporting the police in one incident and not another is a good example, those that haunted this site with their fascist enforcement of their beliefs would never see any side but theirs. Same with Trump, always wrong, Pulling down statues, yes let’s support it in entirety, no flexibility, antifa USA the middle class go to always right ( scuse the pun ) never condemned for looting businesses or BLM when they Burgle, Loot and Murder. It’s all ok because that’s the in thing maaaaaan ...
As I’ve said before, they resorted to bullying, threats and innuendos, but only after currying favour with others to feel less cowardly. When confronted they became holier than thow, pure, pathetic cowards. That’s it, it had to be said. Because that’s all they are, and they were supported by the then admin. Free speech never tasted so sweet when they disappeared up their own backsides to the other site.

And they know as we mostly do who they are.
Free speech should invite challenge, though. What’s the point of free speech if everyone agrees? The lack of challenge means both sites have become calmer.
Mind you, I’ve yet to see anything solved on an Internet forum 🤣
I think the split is a shame and hope going forward that both sites are used by a range of people.
I agree about twitter, most social media in fact. It's driving a lot of todays problems. Trial by social media is a big issue for me.
In answer to Gwynn, I'm not sure this board is as right leaning as all that. Then I agree with NL, I think left and right are outdated notions now. I take my politics from across the spectrum. To me, if something seems a good idea it doesn't matter if it comes from the left or right of the spectrum. For example, I believe strongly in the welfare state but also very strongly in harsh punishments for welfare cheats.
I don't think it's a complete echo chamber either, it is very nice to be able to disagree with someone without it descending into abuse.

It’s not a complete echo chamber, but I do think it’s getting more right leaning (although I do agree that right and left have become such exploded terms they now mean different things to different people).

Never mind exploded terms, I think right and left have just exploded!
The biggest problem was that any lone voice that disagreed with their views was immediately ganged up on by the usual suspects. All of them reinforcing their herd belief.

I am unsure engaging with those whose counter arguments often were abuse and even racist, skin coloured/porcine related insults, was ever going to lead to much enlightenment,
It is a shame the sort of casual insults and vile abuse was allowed. But kerrching click pennies and keeping the forums perceived underclass in its place, that is what equality is about. First build the forum in your own image. Next the world, bit like the EU’s aspirations ;)
It is more interesting to consider the power brokers in this, and how it was perceived that power was used and how that led to such a split. A study in human behaviour.

Some tool would create an account late at night, obviously drunk, send me a load of barely legible abuse and then delete the account.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

The power brokers? Hmm, that may involve saying things about posteres not using this site anymore so I'll pass. I have my opinions but there's no point doing that dirty laundry in public!
Our new moderator/support won't be behaving like a certain someone.....no not Voldemort!
I flit between both sites as I truly believe that I am not a wum or a problem poster.
I have noticed a remarkable difference in both sites, there isnt much bickering as there once was although the new site kicks off at around 22.00 hrs on the weekend when a certain poster (not who you think) starts winding people up.
This site imho is a tad more fractious at times, i think the split has been good in a funny way as the bickering and schoolyard name calling has come down drastically.
I've also noticed that there are quite a few posters like me who flit between both sites so we all cant be bad.

Yes, the Ipswich fan has made it clear, from now
No swearing, abuse or harassment will be tolerated
There’s nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree after discussing an issue and doing so in a civil manner. I agree with Catullus that politically I see merit in some issues from one side and in others from the other side. I find it strange that some people seem to treat political parties like football teams so you can’t possibly change and retain any credibility. I am amazed that people seem to support every thing the government or opposition do and say. That’s not normal to me unless you are prepared to turn a blind eye to some things simply in order to be seen to support your “team”.

Quite amusing to see the OP call for tolerance of opposing views given his history of threatening violence against those he disagrees with. If rank hypocrisy amuses you of course.
Its time we moved on from these kind of threads, we've had a few of them now. The old posters have gone to pastures new, lets get on and make this forum a great place to post.

I do the same as you mate (flit between sites), some tidy posters on both sites, some right tossers as well IMO.
I always try not to post anything that I wouldn't say face to face to another poster (and I don't mean that in an aggressive or confrontational way) although I've been called some nasty names on here mind.
Hoping this forum reverts to insightful Football related discussion. Some of the better, positive, football posters are here.
The old (and new, other forum) was/is far too Trust-politic-centric. Even the Trust officials (and gang) didn't seem to have a clue about football. WTF ? (LisaLondon excepted).
