And if it was Biden the MAGA lot would all send flowers, right? It wouldn’t matter who contacted Covid, some idiots would send hate.

What do you mean MAGA? You mean supporters of the President? You may get the odd idiot but if you think you would get waves of people wishing him and his wife dead then you really are not tuned in to the political climate.

Perception is probably based on the media we follow. Anyway, It’ll be politicised before you know it. Trump will be framed as causing his own illness from perceived lack of precaution. It’s another stick to beat him with. I’ve been very 50:50 on the election so far but it feels to me that things are tipping in Biden’s favour. [Post edited 2 Oct 2020 7:26]

Well there have been casualties on the left and right in these riots, so the evidence is already there on how both react to political opposition dying or being in extreme danger. Would you be able to show me droves of people celebrating the death of a left wing woman that got run over and killed? Certainly not, it was a somber reaction all round. I would be able to show you droves of people celebrating the murder of Jay Danielson though, or wishing for the deaths of the two police officers shot in Compton... including going to the hospital they were being treated in to chant that they hope they die. You name it, the examples are endless. As someone who says they are on neither side surely you can see this intolerance is overwhelmingly on the left and often transcends into this despicable show of lack of value for human life for their political opposition. You just don’t get that in any significant number on the other side. You just don’t. [Post edited 2 Oct 2020 8:02]

I wouldn't attempt to make any kind of excuse for extreme behaviour, but I'm confident if the boot was on the other foot it would be pretty easy to source tweets hoping ill to Biden. As it is it's an open goal for the moderate Dems. Big rallies without masks - got Covid. No rallies and heavy use of masks not got Covid. It's these simple messages that get through. Doesn't matter in this climate whether it's provable or not. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Extreme behaviour would be something that is not widespread. So it doesn’t appear to be extreme behaviour we are talking about, it’s waves upon waves of horrific comments. Thousands, tens of thousands. Being able to source tweets if the shoe was on the other foot and there being an overwhelming avalanche of death wishing is not the same thing. One is extreme and rare from a few idiots, the other is a large chunk of a political side, taking over what are usually considered normal people. The fact you are making them sound comparable does make me question your impartiality that you claim. Someone in work today said it would be a great end to the year if Trump was no more, many laughed. He then retracted that as he may become a martyr. The Washington Post 1 hour after he confirmed he had it ran with a story “imagine what it would be like to no longer have to worry about Trump”. I have never in my life ever seen such widespread filth posted online. It doesn’t have to be sourced, it’s everywhere you look. Take these Swans forums for example. If Biden got a life threatening illness, do you really think you would read a post on here celebrating it? Now ask yourself if you are expecting celebratory posts on Trumps Illness. You don’t have to look very far I have already seen posters on the other Swans site celebrating and laughing at it. No doubt had I not mentioned it we would already have had a few on here too. That alone says it all. What do you mean rallies without masks get Covid and those with don’t get Covid? Trumps administration wears masks and wore one at the debate. He didn’t get this from a maskless rally. [Post edited 2 Oct 2020 9:45]

The comment on rally masks was to point on how the story is likely to develop and how easy it will be to spin. It's a tap in. I'm sure some will suggests he injects himself with bleach too. But don't worry, I expect they're just being sarcastic.

Well I have started a thread of the hoards of leftist public figures now hoping both he and his wife die. If you think you would see the same from public figures on the other side if Biden and his wife became sick then I really don’t know what to say.

Universally loathed? By who? He is a man that was voted in democratically by his country and someone who is generally celebrated world wide. Do you mean someone loathed by the media and the left?

| Trump on 10:18 - Oct 2 with 1234 views | Joe_bradshaw | If I were Biden I would be concerned. If I were the moderator I would be concerned. They spent at least a couple of hours on a stage in shouty exchanges with someone who has now tested positive. Hopefully Trump will have mild or no symptoms and others who have been near him don’t become positive. It would be for the best if this news doesn’t impact on the election but, unfortunately it probably will. I really have no idea what impact that will be. | |

I wouldn't call myself impartial - more moderate. Not a social justice warrior more a social justice worrier! I don't like Trump but I don't think Biden is the answer either. When it comes the choice of the two I'd go Biden as the lesser of two evils.

That is a genuine risk and Biden and all other contacts will need to be tested. I wish Trump, his wife and members of his staff well and hope that they have little or no disease. However the irony is almost comedic.

So is David Beckham. There is a big difference between being loathed worldwide and having people that hate you in different countries. Trump was voted in by his own countries population, and a great chance to be voted in again. He is the only President in God knows how long to not start a new war with another country, brought peace deals to the Middle East and Korea. You have been reading too much left wing media or watching too much telly.

Do you actually think Johnson wasn't very ill, you only have to take one look at him. He aged 10 years when he had COVID.

Many more smarter folk than you have tried and failed gloriously. Keep it on topic and don't get personal. OK.? Good. Now,what I read ; Can you read my mind. As for voting for Trump;well they had the choice of Hillary or Don. David Beckham is ubiquitous but never thought he would be an interloper on a Trump thread.
