At MK he said after one defeat “I know I’ll get criticicised for saying this again because I’ve said it too many times…” then went on his “we dominated” spiel.

He has tried to build this messiah aura about him. For the last 3 seasons he has blamed everyone and everything under the sun.
When he got beat game after game at MK Dons he refused to take responsibility, used to say the opposition didn’t deserve to win and because we dominated the ball we don’t have to look at my system or how we played essentially.
That was always a red flag for me. It’s an environment where ego grows undeservedly and accountability becomes non existent. Until we as a club can take stock of what’s going on and why his system is so flawed despite the lions share of possession then we will never get anywhere.
I made the point early on that this “time” and “patience” stuff only comes into play with a manager willing to learn who is analytical enough to realise why his system is flawed in order to optimise it. Otherwise we just keep doing the same thing over and over again - which he pretty much has up to this point.
Whether he’s finally realised he cannot continue giving out his nonsense or someone has had a stern word with him we will probably never know. However after that ridiculous interview something has made him come out and correct it.
I hope it’s a genuine reflection as opposed to an instruction, because then we would finally be seeing some progress. Once he starts admitting he got stuff wrong, he can start trying to improve on them.
