8.5 billion profit absolutely disgusting the whole country struggling
0
BP on 08:02 - Aug 2 with 3043 viewsDr_Winston

It's not a good look.

Worth repeating as I have in the past that a significant chunk of this will end up in the pockets of pensioners rather than your stereotypical, top hat wearing, cigar smoking shareholder, but with bills skyrocketing there's no way that the Govt can stand by and watch. I'd expect another windfall tax at some point, or a word in OfGen's ear to limit any raise in the cap.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Nothing the matter with profit comrade but in the current circumstances it seems very uncomfortable

Morning Jim. Now,have a nice up of tea and look at that which is before you. If it doesn’t seem that you have miscomprehended, pick up your Morning Star and have a doughnut .

Companies HAVE to make a profit.

BP also lost Billions in previous years, but no one worried about that.

A lot of these profits will also be offsetting the 20 billion loss from leaving it's russian joint venture with Rosneft, and a lot will be used to invest in their alternative energy projects and expanding their UK operations: https://www.bp.com/en/global/c

And of course there is the pension funds.

And they will continue to make profits as will all these massive companies. Driving ordinary people into the ground. The world is completely broken and the fact people will happily defend the actions of the top % and big business is deplorable.

and yet, if you have solar panels and sell some electricity back to the grid, the price per unit hasn't increased... odd that ain't it

I know of somebody who bought their own panels and the supplier is ignoring all correspondence regarding handing over the feed in tariff . We have over £550 in credit with EON who put up our standing charge by 50% , I know that will soon be eaten up this coming winter but why should they earn the interest in the meantime , We're being taken for mugs and something's got to break . Dutch farmers rioting over the governments plans of shutting down 11,200 farms and another 17,600 farmers will have to significantly reduce their livestock. Welsh government being more insidious but with same effect , reducing crop yields . World Economic Forum suggesting private car ownership should cease and there's a whole lot more .

The latest suggestion is that we all have a digital ID (so the government can record epic amounts of data about us without our permission) and we all be given a 'Carbon allowance'.

You'll only be allowed to drive your car/motorbike/boat for a strict amount of time, the government will decide whether you can have the heating on or not, wood burning stoves will be policed etc. etc. etc.

Meanwhile, they are suggesting that the wealthy will be able to purchase poor people's carbon allowance off them in order to continue their multi-million lifestyles.
The people at the top will continue as normal while patting themselves on the back for tackling climate change.
Normal people will have their lifestyles severely reduced.

I did not notice anyone asking for BP to be given a windloss tax in the years BP lost billions due the crash in oil prices at the start of the pandemic.

Good to see a company based in the UK making a profit even if BP only made 10% of its profit from its UK operations.

The government will benefit from increased corporation tax to fund the NHS and the 1 million people in this country who refuse to work, which is the real scandal.

Plus it is good for pension funds who hold most of the shares, it will also be good for the RMT union who hold millions of pounds worth of shares in BP and Shell.

This all sounds like people on benefits are good for the economy because they spend 75% of their income on beer and fags.

People on benefits who won't work are never good for any economy when there are over 1 million job vacancies.

How many people can afford to do that? Our country has workers so badly paid they have to claim off the state just to live. What’s your view on that sp*nkmonkey???

If they worked instead of claiming benefits every working taxpayer would pay less tax and be better off.

It is terrible when people have lost an argument they have to resort to personal insults.

I was unemployed after redundancy and I learned one thing - there’s no real safety net. You are describing some sort of delusion where you actually believe that fit and healthy people do not have to work or seek work. I’m sure the good Dr W will be along to put us both straight as he has much experience in this area.
