| The tide seems to be turning for the Swans on 20:46 - Sep 17 with 1564 views | Catullus | Yeah, the change in approach, less silly passing at the back, more urgency going forward and fewer players used out of position. It seems to be working. There's still dead wood to be cut away and some newer dead wood too apparently. Pato and Ntcham seem past their use by dates | |

By that token that makes a 3-0 victory sound a bit over inflated. Hull were shocking !

Agreed but we’d expect to dominate a sh*t side at home wouldn’t we? Or have expectations dampened down more than I realised?

‘Over inflated’ We created 7 or 8 chances in the first half, should have gone in at least 2 goals up. Surely, even the most negative posters on here can’t moan about that performance yesterday? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Some will still moan. Unbelievable. Noticeable that there is far less negativity on this site now that the one with many user names who posted for 20 hours a day has been banned.

We slipped into bad habits a bit for about 30 minutes in the first half. Think we still need to get the midfield mix right. I'm never hugely fond of playing Grimes and Fulton in the same side. It was better yesterday as Fulton was further forward, but with Allen as well our midfield three are all a bit similar. It's largely the same problem as when Rodgers used to play Britton, Allen and Gower in the same midfield. It was solid but didn't have much oomph in it. For me we need a Pratley type to drive things on. Someone capable of carrying the ball into space when it appears rather than just looking for another pass. I had hoped Ntcham could do that, and when he's on his game he does, but that's not often enough. Doesn't help that he's been shunted wider rather than central for the most part, but still.

I know you’re not too keen on Grimes but I think he’s playing well lately, even pushed further forward on a few occasions, excellent through ball to Piroe which he should have converted. That loanee Cundle looks promising.

Some people still look for a bit h fest after a win. Yesterday, we were goddam awful until we realised Hull are in turmoil. It was strange to be gifted a goal in the way that we have gifted goals to poor teams. The tide both ebbs and flow.

My biggest problem with Grimes hasn't changed. He is nowhere near ambitious enough. There were numerous occasions yesterday when a clear forward pass was on, or space he could have carried the ball into. Instead, as per usual, too often he dithered on the ball and gaps closed up, or he made the "safe" pass. If he took the ball on the turn more often that would be a start. I know he's got the quality to be more aggressive because, as you say, on occasion he is. It just doesn't happen anywhere near often enough for me. It's a mentality thing with him rather than an ability one.

There shouldn’t be much bitching today. There were no real negatives yesterday. Hull being awful is a caveat, but we still dominated them. If two of our three shots that hit the bar go in and they don’t gift us two goals, it’s still 3-0 and a deserved 3-0 at that. Whether people like Martin, Grimes, Naughton, whoever or not, there shouldn’t be much criticism of yesterday.

We got it together eventually and the ending was sweet . And yes, there should be no bitching A week to forage all those blackberries and apples for the winter

There were a few lulls where nothing much happened for either team, but I thought we were comfortably on top from the start.

I doubt if fans take any pleasure in us losing.....probably why I get vocal when we do because I hate it. Due to the KO time couldn't make it yesterday....great win and form what I've seen a good performance....whilst Hull were not great we dominated created a hateful and more chances resulting in a win....long may it continue

The question is whether it’s instinct or orders! We know he can do it but tends no to, at least not often enough. If we were sharper in that part of the field instead of stopping for a cup of tea whilst the opposition regroup, we’d be a lot better off.
