Exactly, the club want him to stay, he wants to stay, its just a matter of agreeing the terms and fine detail of the contract. Those who are not happy will just have to get used to it.
| Russell Martin in a strong bargaining position at Swansea City on 12:51 - Dec 8 with 1234 views | vetchonian | Really not so long ago most were advocating his dismissal Who will be this seasons Downes? Paterson Piroe and Obafemi shadows of themselves last season and Fulton is just carrying on as he did under Potter and Cooper nothing to do with Martins management of him One and a half seasons on still no achievements apart from the “trebe “ he has. 38% win rate which is consistent with his time at MKDons We haven’t won in 5 games since beating 10 man Cardiff despite playing sides below us and are slipping down the table The football is boring to watch pedestrian without result and at the end of the day football Is about results and entertainment On another thread someone described Martins press conferences as being full of smoke and mirrors just like his football. I think we should wait until the end of the season before it’s done I fail to understand the “reverence” this manager receives given his performance | |

It's not what we think it's what the owners think and they are happy because he is balancing the books and they can see progress. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He has achieved nothing whatsoever apart from winning over the more dewy eyed romantics. The owners must stay strong and objectives

He has achieved a higher league position, brought in and moved on a player in Downes who will bring around 10 million profit in time, redeveloped a Swansea style of playing that is known countrywide, is trying to get that style more positive with the players he has, managed the egos of our two strikers to the extent they are recognised top championship goal scorers, been instrumental in bringing forwards academy players in to the first team, he has committed his family and staff to forwarding Swansea City and that’s just from the top of my head. I can give you numerous other positives and of course some negatives, but he is learning and managing our club in a very positive way, things don’t happen overnight even in a world that demands success every day.

People can hate on him all they like but given his limited budget he has done well, people are too used to playing Football manager on their armchair and in the real world its a lot harder I was also on Russel's back for the stupid playing out from the back and possession at all costs narrative, he changed that and now i am on board I for one would like him to stay

His new contract isn’t the issue mate, it’s the release clause. I’m sure they will sort it out.

I don't doubt what your saying. However you state ''He is in demand''. Who is making enquiries about him? I am intrigued here.

The owners are strong and objective. Financially he has filled their remit. On the field we are in 8th place a third of the season in, handily placed for a promotion push. Looking at it from their point of view what is not to like ?

Looking like 6, we are looking like typical mid table team. If board happy with that ambition, give him longer deal. We ain't seeing PL with this guy in charge.

Who knows the formation today, one could describe it as fluid if you wanted to be kind. At times naughton and manning were our two players furthest forward, confused me.
| Russell Martin in a strong bargaining position at Swansea City on 18:47 - Dec 10 with 721 views | onehunglow | No doubt he s lied about these calls knowing Levein is coming over and to bring pressure for another contract A longer contract will see us relegated and crowds halve . We are in danger folks. Not all call see it | |
