Bobby is Portugal boss 20:34 - Jan 7 with 1047 views | KeithHaynes | Roberto Martinez has reached a verbal agreement to become the new head coach of Portugal’s national team. The appointment of the 49-year-old Spaniard is on course to be finalised by the end of next week. Martinez, who has received interest from elsewhere in club and international football, is a free agent having left his role as Belgium head coach after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Probably. Fair play to the Bullsh*tter. He's consistently failed upwards his entire career. After pissing away Belgium's "Golden Generation", now he gets the chance to do the same to the Portuguese.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

The capacity of Swansea fans to dislike their own history is bizzare in my view. The better someone does the less some fans respect you. This is a hallmark of stone cold losers. The Swansea city Supporters Trust represented this self harm strain 2015-2022.

Bobby is Portugal boss on 22:59 - Jan 7 with 889 views | majorraglan | I don’t think he’s as bad as some make out. In terms of club football, he’s never really been with a “top” club who were “competing” for trophies, the likes of Citeh and the other big teams are at a different level and the rest of the PL are scraping for crumbs. Everton haven’t been good for a fair while and winning FA Cup with Wigan is a fair achievement. In terms of Belgium, they certainly disappointed at the last WC, but in WC 2018 they were 3rd and went out at the SF’s to France after knocking out Brazil in the QF’s and at the 2021 Euro’s they went out in QF’s after losing to eventual winners Italy. He’s also taken them to the finals of the Nations League tournament. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Not sure that is true. Martinez is highly respected by many fans. Rodgers is highly respected by many fans. Laudrup is highly respected by many fans. Even Guidolin is highly respected by many fans. Going back further Harry Griffiths, Tosh, Yorath, Frank Burrows and Molby recall fondly remembered and respected. Can think of many other managers who you could be referring to who aren't respected ? Flynn, Hollins, Jacket perhaps ? Can't think of many others who have done enough to earn our respect ? I could be wrong of course ...

Bobby is Portugal boss on 00:52 - Jan 8 with 824 views | Robbie | Prefer to think of him as a great Swans midfielder , career cut short by a bad tackle then later manager of the Club , Mark Gower had never had so much space given the ball . Who takes a punt on ex players making great managers , Lampard is really struggling and I believe Rooney has done a runner to the States after failing in that role . The Three Amigos reunited call from Wigan maybe turned his head though .

He was terrific and put us on the Road to the Promised Land . More respect for those who saw us leave it. Ok, his departure hurt but he has a good legacy the like of which our current and much respected good coach will never have.

Flynn and Jackett were grossly underestimated by some fans. Imo Flynn imo started the revival by rebuilding the team. Jackett, at that level, brought a promotion, play off final and three cups in less than three seasons. Both brought in players who stayed with the club to establish Championship position and even into the Premier League.

Agree with all that. Just struggling to think who was being referred to in the above post as not respected ?

Without Sousa teaching the defence how to defend Rogers would have had a very difficult job. Had Sousa been given a decent fit striker I’m convinced he would have taken us up.

Struggle no more. I refer you to the first 4 answers to the thread. Posts 2 through to 5. Even the label "bullshitter" was used by a forum regular. Others were incredulous he was still being employed in football.

He had no money and little coming through the academy. Joey Allen was 15-16. He had to play Keri Morgan and a young Jazz Richards in some big games. He lost Bodde and Jordi Gomez and brought in Jordi Lopez who was not good. t was hoped he w could pull a few rabbits out of hats as Roberto had done and Brendan would do later but his contact books and networking in Portugal was not up to scratch early in his career. Some people cn network while others struggle. Some develop networking skills

None of which is an excuse for him to produce boring games through an entire season. Entertainment wise, matched Hollins' championship winning season, without the consolation of winning a championship or even promotion
