All in, he was asking to be paid in accordance to the highest paid earner at the club.....that was never going to happen.

Targets are being worked on!! They were being worked on prior to the Winter window. They can make as big a list as they want......they can put the work in but its the tanks that will dictate. Obefami, Naughton, Manning out the door and possibly Joel L wil mean a good chunk of wages to work with.

Nothing can be learned there. However having a manager instil belief in the players that it’s worth staying, guiding a team to the upper reaches of the league and tempting people with the chance of EPL football always helps.

22 players have come in since he has taken over. I’m not seeing the changes you insist happen with such things.

| Ryan Manning leaving on 12:37 - Feb 20 with 1813 views | pencoedjack | If you asked me to name my player of the season so far it would be Manning. Hate his theatrics but he is a very decent player at this level & wouldn't be surprised if a lower end PL side pick him up at the end of a season on a free. Lets hope Martin isn't signing his replacement. | | | |
| Ryan Manning leaving on 12:39 - Feb 20 with 1811 views | BryanSwan | Not a massive fan of Manning so no real loss in my opinion, hopefully we can get a fullback in of a bit more quality. Someone will pay him what he wants, but thats more to do with clubs being dull rather than him being worth it. | |

Up arrowed you by mistake The only place Manning would be going under these owners is League One Do you actually believe what you say ? Change the manager, the result will still be the same

You up arrowed me because you subconsciously agreed. What are you asking me what I believe? That we can’t make Manning sign a new contract? Or It’s easier to get players to sign when we have a manager instil confidence in the players and get us playing in the upper reaches of the league? I believe both by the way.

How many did he choose ? Three or four maybe ? Please name the ones he actually wanted to sign. Won't take long. I'll help: Fisher, Darling Sorinola

Bit lazy to assume the only players he wants are the ones who have played for him previously. List the ones he didn’t want to sign then and show me the evidence for that accusation.

You are the one who said he signed 22 players. The club signed them. He chose three or four max. You already know this though

| Ryan Manning leaving on 13:11 - Feb 20 with 1735 views | Badlands | Quite a few to choose from but who would Martin use if they came? A player who could be tempted is John Murkin (well we had an Arriola🤷 Out of contract this season, mainly LB but also L Midfield, 24 in July, 21 games this season for FC Voldendam in the Eredivisie, English so wouldn’t need an international permit, valued around €700,000 but salary listed as £30,000 a year! | |

I don’t know that at all, in fact I don’t think it’s true in the slightest. Laird was clearly his pick, Wood was his pick, Pato was his pick, Downes was his pick, Walsh was his pick, Sorinola was his pick, Fisher was his pick, Darling was his pick. Ntcham was his pick after pro actively speaking to Scott Brown. Those are just off the top of my head that I know for a fact he picked. So your 3 or 4, as usual, is nonsense. I doubled it without much thought, and I’m sure there are far more that he picked that I don’t know about.

According to Wales Online, we showed interest in 11 players in the recent transfer window. My understanding, based on what I have read about them (can't say I know much about most of them apart from Wolf), is that six of them were out and out strikers obviously intended to replace Obafemi (Gelhardt, Delap, Archer, Cornick, Grant and Barnes). One was a midfielder who can play as a striker (Ebiowei), so presumably Paterson's replacement. The other four were contenders for the problematic RWB berth (Ogbene, Wolf, Thomas and Key). Given that, as Dr P majesterially demonstrated in a post last night, our biggest problems are our defensive frailty and failure to attack with pace, which of those players do you look at and go 'ah, the missing pieces of Martin's master plan, if only we'd had xxxx and xxxx, we'd be closing in on the top 6 right now'? Not to absolve the owners/management team/whoever was responsible for our failure to land a single player last month, but I read a post on another forum by Colin Jones saying that we would be challenging for the play-offs if he'd got two special players in January. I just don't see it. All I see is Martin trying yet again to implement a strategy that has failed time and again.

You can add Paterson Martin has gone on record saying he was his first target when he knew he was coming here Ethan Laird Cyrus Chrisite Downes Surely he had some input into Cundle et al?

| Ryan Manning leaving on 15:34 - Feb 20 with 1555 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | It was Mannings intention to let his contract run down from the very second he signed it. Lots of players do it. It’s a risky tactic but very lucrative. | |

Our issue at the moment as i see it is width. If we play a 4 at the back we have no natural wide players. If we play with a 5 the wide players are two limited fullbacks. What Martin wants Manning, Latibaudiere snd Sorinola to do is something they just aren't capable of nor are most fullbacks outside the top flight and even some in it.

Yes He insisted in Fisher Sorinola and Darling only to put them on the bench we keep getting told he doesnt have the players to play his system so why bring in these 3?

Attack is the best form of defence. Because we are very limited in attack it brings pressure on our defence. This is the reality no matter whose fault it is.

We aren’t that limited in attack. There are over 20 teams in this league who haven’t scored as many goals as we have. It’s quite rare we don’t score at least 1 in a game. We scored 3 at home and lost the other day. The pressure is created by us giving the ball away in stupid areas. Having a keeper that scares the shite out of everyone any time the ball goes within twenty metres of him. Having three six foot plus centre backs who can’t deal with simple crosses into the box. My biggest criticism of Russell Martin and this squad is they just don’t learn from their mistakes. We are making the same mistakes now 18 months into “the process” as they were making on day 6 of “the process”. Cut out the mistakes, learn from them and we would be a very very good team at this level.
