The injury situation is a concern. With a fit Walsh, Allen, Ginnelly and Cabango together with Fulton, Piroe and (depending on formation) Darling starting we are a completely different team.

Play Abdulai in his correct position and develop him along with Josh Thomas.

I keep harping on about this but once again … we are just two players short (does Latti count) of the team that ended last season with 23 point from 27 and undefeated in 9 games. Cundle and Sorrinola have gone but let's be honest one had a few good games and the other pretty much made up numbers.
Where the board has failed is in appointing a manager who completely resets rather than builds on the positives from last season. Having already brought in three players, two more on the verge, to say he needs another 5 or 6 begs the question … why did he take this job?
If Duff is going to ignore the qualities we have in the squad and insist on playing a completely different style we end up with the same situation we had with Martin. But he probably is right in saying we need 5 or 6 new players if this hoofball is to work. Our midfield and forward players can not compete, win or control a lofted ball out of defence (not many defences in our league can) nor do we have have world class sprinters who can leave a 50m void behind them and still be effective. |  |

You also need a big forward who can hold up the ball and is good with their head if you are going hoof ball. | | | |

Nice to see some cross field passing from the centre halves but the long ball over the top in a straight line is just bread and butter for defenders. | |

Most of the academy kids have barely played a professional senior game. I did a post elsewhere. If it was the plan to play these guys they should surely have been given time at Yeovil or Newport last season surely.?
Congreve and Abdullai have dipped their toes but others barely any senior game time, Newport a well short of strikers. There should be numerous takers. Swansea need to get going on arranging loans. |  |

Guehi wasn't full ready initially but with a bit of game time . I quite like what Cundle gave the team last year, was still raw at times but rarely let the team down, many would say not ready yet as they did with Guehi but he added something to the strength of the squad. | | | |

Some of the u21s that have had game time pre season are now training full time with the first team squad. If the coaching staff feel that they are not currently physically or mentally developed enough to play in the Championship we have to trust their judgement. After all they are watching them day in day out against seasoned Championship players. Its a big jump up from u21, some do it because they are ready others don't, patience is needed. | | | |
