Asleep at the wheel. UK had the good life 2013-2018 with no boat as the EU took the migration hit. Once immigration is under control as in Denmark the Welsh "Nation of Scantuary" looks a lot better.

Senedd take whoever England sends to Wales presumably with some cash incentives. Immigration is an British mess up. We bombed the countries where the immigrants are coming from in the main and the H HM. Governments have been asleep at the wheel since Mr Merkel opened the gates of Serbia in 2013. Right wing actors are shifting the blame away from the dozy from Westminster to the Senedd which is a joke .

Load of bollocks Labour will deploy many ideas over the coming years knowing nothing will come of them, as far as they are concerned these are the people who will help strengthen their voting base and help to keep them in power and stay in power, the Democrats were planning to do the same thing in America by allowing huge numbers to cross the border but unfortunately for them before they could estabish this insurge into the voting system along came a guy called Trump

This has to be the funniest (the competition is limited regarding the subject matter so that's not hard) thread ever regarding Labour ,labour started this mess ably assisted by the Tories but now have retaken the torch therefore responsible for what we have today ,numbers increasing virtually every week with no clear pathway in stopping the flow and with it yet more tax payers money being thrown at the problem .Lefty's started the problem and any opposition objecting is automatically classed as racist and extreme rightwing without having any clue of the feeling of discontent within normally easy going ,abide by the rules population .

Rwanda wasn’t and isn’t the answer, a scheme which cost millions and millions will the potential of seeing between 100 and 250 maximum removed per year. In April 2024 stats were disclosed that revealed there was a 54% reduction of enforced returns between 2010 and 2023 and for asylum seekers it was 73%. Maybe some more robust enforcement would have been a better bet. https://news.sky.com/story/rwanda-scheme-how-many-asylum-seekers-does-the-uk-rem

You are n correct with your comment about 900,000 being “let in” in 2023, the number “let in through the front door” was actually over 1.2m. The 900,000 figure you’re referring to was the net increase figure - in essence there were 900,000 more people in the U.K. on 31.12.23 than there were on 1.1.23. You are correct about it being a lot lower in 2024. EU migration was negative again last year so more are leaving than arriving, so we’re effectively replacing EU citizens with people from other parts of the world.

Has anyone asked whose agenda is the country dancing to when it comes to legal and illegal immigration , you really think Governments figures are not packed with lies , mistruths and anything else they can think of to deceive the public when it suits their agenda(s) . You keep repeating this claim about the Dublin Regulation facilitating returns but, as I have pointed out more than once, we had more inward transfers than outward transfers in the final years it applied to the UK. Year followed by transfers in and out. 2015 131 510 2016 558 362 2017 461 314 2018 1215 846 2019 714 263 2020 882 105 Many of the inward returns were made under articles 8 and 9 of the Dublin Regulation. These stipulated that, under certain conditions, the applications of some asylum seekers in EU countries, whose relatives are already in the UK, should be dealt with by the UK. For much of this period less than 10% of UK requests for outward transfers were accepted. For example, in 2019 263 transfers were made following 3259 transfer requests. In 2020 as by now a non-member entitled to use the process for an additional year the UK made 8502 requests for outward transfers of which 105 returns occurred. Source AIDA Country Report UK , 2020 p. 30. Dublin isn't even working well for current EU members. Greece and Poland have stated they will not accept returns and Italy is only accepting very few under bilateral agreements such as one with Switzerland. Germany is complaining that its requests to return migrants to Greece and Italy (two of the main entry countries) are being rejected. The main remaining advantage of Dublin is access to the Eurodac database, but that is of limited value if the country of entry will not accept returns. Such are the limitations of Dublin that the EU is replacing it with a new Asylum and Migration Management Regulation (AMMR) from July 1, 2026. However, my guess is that overburdened arrival countries will still find ways to limit returns. Brexit happened in 2020, not 2016. The boats started because the authorities in Calais dismantled the ‘jungle camps’ and put infrastructure in place that made it very difficult to break in to Britain by jumping on a lorry/train. The mass immigration to Europe by Asian/african economic migrants with the intention to smuggle themselves to Britain is an issue that long predates Brexit. Even Only fools and horses did an episode of it and that started in 1981. The economy has been stagnating for twenty years. We’ve had a financial crash, a global pandemic and Putin’s warmongering to deal with since then as well as a succession of abjectly incompetent nincompoops walking our corridors of power. How anyone can pin all these pre existing problems solely on Brexit is beyond me. Some people would clean up the medals if there were an Olympic event for mental gymnastics.
