Building 100's of thousands of 'new homes'
at 16:18 30 Dec 2015

Often I hear people say it's essential because of population growth (well quite) but surely the floods have made people think a bit.

We might have a lot of 'land' but not all land can be just concreted over. Can someone explain to me how the green party.... yes the green party advocate open borders and 500k new homes a year?

Yes clearly there is potential for building on brownfield sites but it doesn't take a genius to see with our population increasing year on year you can't just keep building in the same locations otherwise we'll all be living in rabbit hutches.

Surely our real concern should not be more homes, but population growth both Nationally and Internationally. This is the real danger to the planet.

Superb job so far, I feel confident we'll get results again. I wouldn't have any issues with him staying till end of season.

Notice the love for a funky foreign name on here, most people haven't got a clue who they are but they seem attracted to them.

Will labour ever get back into power?
at 10:52 23 Dec 2015

I've been following the recent labour news with amusement and a bit of sadness (yes genuinely) - it's painfully obvious that the tories are going to win an increased majority possibly even a landslide in 2020.

By this point the left of labour will have a stranglehold over labour and this will mean there is no hope for the right of labour which closely mirrors the early 80's with the breakaway of the SDP.

Personally I believe the likes of Denis Healey made a mistake and the moderates should have left on mass to join the SDP and leave the socialists to keep the red flag flying high. Maybe as CB has long argued it is time for a voting change.

I was very skeptical about voting change but I personally thought the coalition largely did a superb job and I was disappointed it didn't continue in many ways. I largely support this Gov but I'm more in the centre so I'd prefer the right wingers to be more restrained which the coalition provided.

My point is that under the present system labour will never recover and it might be time for a realignment to take place in British politics.

What was the real motive? Under Blair there was clearly a narrative that we all had to adhere to that the BBC etc were happy to push that anyone who questions this is a racist, obviously that has all changed with people on the left now talking like people who were considered Far-right years ago.

Was it to destroyed Nationhood and Nationalism? Our Nation has for Centuries had immigrants but they've been assimilated at a slow pace this all changed and it felt very deliberate.

What could be the consequence of this though? The polar opposite reaction, Nationalism returning e.g. Far right in France getting stronger and stronger. White working class shifting further towards the likes of UKIP.

There isn't much we can do now though because we have thousands in this Country who hate us and they're British Citizens.

Another classic example. Social media is making people the worst kind of egotists, this self congratulatory nonsense is being peddled every day.

As Rod Liddle said on QT it's all about 'them' nothing to do with the people drowning in the Med, aren't I a wonderful person. Like, like, like.

Gary Monk best swans manager of last 30 years?
at 16:04 5 Dec 2015

Saw a lot of this towards the end of last season and many who questioned this were considered ignorant, lacking any respect, fishing for arguments or lacking loyalty.

The reality is guys Gary was never the right man for the job, he is a brilliant guy served his club with distinction and I'll be forever thankful to him. But he's not good enough to take us forward in the premier league.

I remember many suggesting he was better than Martinez or Rodgers. This was the classic short termist mentality, if you looked at the underlying football and change in direction (e.g. backroom appointments, signings) it was plain to see that we were going to come unstuck in time.

It's easy to knock the so called 'Swansea way' with cliches like 'Martinez invented passing' or whatever sarcastic nonsense but the reality is this was our niche it set us apart. We had a culture running through the club, we invested wisely in the future and we were able to grow year on year by maintaining an identity.

Many tribal types were happy to let this be sacrificed because of short term results which were good on paper. This club culture had been cultivated and had left its mark with us attaining success while not breaking the bank.

I hope we get the next appointment right and we revert back to our ideals. We can bounce back but we need to be bold and intelligent going forward or we're going to tumble. Our success was built on the long term and somewhere along the line we forgot that.
