I watched the last episode of line of duty and thought that was good. Undercover has finally grabbed by attention. I quite like some of the investigative programmes Stacey Dooley does. However I can't wait for the next series of people just do nothing.

Season 2 of The Gentlemen was superb.

Also by Guy Ritchie, Mobland Season 2 on Paramount+ has started off very strong. The new character played by Johnny Flynn is the perfect foil to Tom Hardy's Harry.

I am one of these who waits for all episodes to be available before I watch it. Causes delays for me to see series such as Mobland (loved the first series) but it is on my list and again another series I don't understand why it is tucked away on Paramount

Totally understandable. The debate about which model works best (binge vs weekly) is definitely one that depends on your personal preference, although it does seem most platforms are transitioning back to a weekly release, bar Netflix. As for why it's tucked away on Paramount - it's owned and produced by them so makes sense for them to show it on their own streaming service, although now Paramount has successfully taken over Warner Bros I can see them consolidating Paramount + and HBO Max into a unified platform at some point.

I know some on here like Dark Winds. Season 4 starts on 17th Oct on U&Alibi on UK tv.

I have seen it and it is very good.

Also just watched the first episode of Pierre on CH4. Not bad. He has a QPR sticker hanging from his rear view mirroe in the series. Is David Harewood a QPR fan?

Shout out for Pierre on channel 4! David Harewood is superb as the solicitor trying to find out about police corruption etc. One of the writers is playwright Ray Williams an r's supporter! I'm sure he's the reason he made Pierre a qpr fan! Well worth a watch!

We get another mention in EPs 5 when he plays his son on FC27. ''The mighty QPR''.

I enjoyed it. Left it open for another series.

Realise I'm several years behind but I found the black comedy Sally4Ever yesterday - written by Julia Davis (who did Nighty Night) so I thought it was worth a go. Did anyone else watch it?

Bit behind the curve here but finished season 2 of Severance last night.

What a show, absolutely brilliant. Takes a decent high-concept conceit and absolutely runs with it, examines it from a few different perspectives.

There's just the right level of absurdity sown through it, which hits a crescendo in the final episode. And this is my problem - as much as I loved it, I'm a bit wary about there being a third season. It's hard to imagine how they can go back to 'a day in the office at Lumen' after all the madness of the last episode. And it's hard to imagine how the continue the Mark S and Helly story at this point. I kind of loved the closing shot and the 'we're left to imagine what happens next' nature of it. It actually reminded me a bit of the freezeframe ending of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.

Superb soundtrack too, iconic - reminds me a bit of Twin Peaks in someways in that it's instantly identifiable.

I always thought HBO had the better name for entertainment, creating Sopranos, The Wire, Band of Brothers?

Never understood why they don't leverage a prestigious brand.

Similar deal with TNT, spend years building up ESPN or Eurosport then rebrand to an obscure American brand...

Doesn't the ESPN brand belong to Disney? Even if they aren't using it in Britain at present, they aren't going to let TNT use it (I think they belong to whatever Time Warner/ Paramount are called now).

Just finished the latest series of 'The Diplomat' on Netflix.

Reasonable watch, albeit I think much of the time devoted to the personal relationships of Kate and Hal, and Eidra and Stuart would be better used for the absorbing plot lines. One thing this shows does well, is leave it hanging, almost begging, for a new series to be commissioned. However, I read that viewership has fallen.

Also looking forward to the season 2 return of, 'Dept. Q'. If for no other reason, than the show stealing performance of Akram. Wasn't a huge fan of Mathew Goode before this show, but in this, he was excellent. Always think he's a bit of a poor man's, Hugh Grant and wouldn't have put cash on him being as good as he was in such a, non-foppish role.

Yep, you are right. BT had the deal with Disney to use it and Discovery took on the BT Sports channels, around the same time as Eurosport.

I always thought ESPN was the stronger brand, but they've had a few swings at it now in Europe and the UK and it never really sticks. There just isn't the market for American Sports that anyone thinks there is.

Blue Lights on BBC has been excellent since the very start. Judging by the ending there won't be any more. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see a spin-off or 2.

Definitely. It’s all been good but I still think that the first series was the best of the lot.

Well, I'm probably not the best one to ask, at least not yet.

Same in wasn't a fan of his either. But he was great in Dept Q. Was looking forward to the 2nd season until I heard James Corden is in it.

Hal from the diplomat is in The man in the high castle. Excellent viewing and he’s an English actor. Freaked the wife out when she found out.

Season 6 of Slow Horses with a new writer making it too American with fights and chases and some cold hearted killings. One of my favourite shows not season 6 though.

Do like shows like Salvage hunters, bangers and cash etc. UK stuff showing up on free tv here.

I'm halfway through season 5, and to be fair, there have been plenty of fights, chases and cold hearted killings in the first 5 series, so..... are you saying there are even more of 'em??

Anyway, got steered to Slow Horses reading this thread, and if you take away the utterly ludicrous nature of most of its storylines, it's compulsive viewing because of its brilliant characters, with Gary Oldman to the fore. WHAT a role this is for him, and he plays it with such aplomb - some of the lines are genius: in the laundrette, he's just put his clothes in a machine: Sam: 'aren't you going to put any powder in with those?" - Jackson: 'narr, they just need a rinse'.
And, 'you're about as useful as a paper condom'. I could go on. Just brilliant.

Thought the last series was pretty weak compared to the first few.

The "riot scenes" were quite farcical.

Still well worth a watch

I panicked there John and thought you were gonna give spoilers. I have the last 2 episodes planned for our flight to NYC tomorrow

I have loved this season but do agree it has focused too much at times on the relationships. Kate's performance though is immense
