My daughter is only 18 months, but I am finding myself saying some of the things I heard (and resented/hated) my parents saying. the main one is "dont you look smart", which was a frequent thing from my father and was generally some bullshit because he wanted me to dress to impress even as a kid. When I was a kid, for some reason my mate's Dad always used to say, "Come on, eat-up; there are children starving in Swansea" whenever his kids wouldn't eat something. Bit random. Oh yes. I think it was once we had kids of our own that I started to realise that most of what my parents said when we were kids was right.
