Terrible news. Such a brilliant lad and player. Wishing him a quicker recovery than predicted and hopefully he can get his achilles back to full strength. The surgery at that level for athletes is pretty amazing these days. Huge blow for him. I had a feeling he was going to be on his way to the likes of Man Utd, Man City or even Barcelona before too long. Hopefully that will still be the case one day. Brutal injury. There's a Hearts player John Souttar, his brother is Harry at Stoke, who did one and after the long slow recovery he did the other very shortly into his comeback.
He's played 2 or 3 games at the end of thus season so hopefully he's back now, missed nearly 2 seasons of football.
I snapped mine on a coaching course last January, it was bloody sore!
Still not right but have suffered the lack of health care in Covid times as I haven't had anything other than a boot put on and never seen a physio or doctor since the day I did it.
Being an old dude and getting a bit of swelling isn't the worst thing in the world of course.
Hope Ebere can recover quickly, will be an important time for him and making the next step up |  | | |

I did this in New York Marathon November 2019. Finally returned to training last week, 18 months later but I'm a lot older!! Tried to comeback twice in the interim and broke down both times. Not a nice one.. |  |

At amateur level they get your foot in a boot with the toe pointing down and basically let it mend itself.
I would imagine at elite level and the value of Ebere that they will have top level surgery.

I'm a meniscus man and luckily mine healed itself even though I took the giant leg bandage the hospital gave me off.

I did it in August playing football. Heard the pop and knew instantly what had happened.
Had surgery and surgeon took photos which he sent to my phone  The achilles had completely snapped and was shredded.
3 months in a boot and was able to run a bit in January. 6 months until physio and doctor signed me off
I'm sure his age and the fact he's a professional sportsman will see him come back | |

Neither was David Bardsley who missed nearly two seasons but again it was 25 years ago and he was in his early 30s.

A guy I play cricket with did it last Summer. Just started to do a run and he went to ground in agony and had to be carried from the pitch. He said he heard it go and it was torn length ways apparently… Just coming back to playing now, would have played Sunday but we were rained off. |  |
