Floodlights 10:14 - Oct 21 with 11697 viewssuperhoopdownunder

What is going on - parts of the ground appear to be in the dark.

I heard Lee Hoos mention there was some problem recently.

In the ground does it appear light enough to play?

It looks terrible on television (for us fans overseas)

I would have thought getting this fixed would be a priority

With three home wins on the trot, I think the clubs on to something.

No, it's really bad at the game too. There are patches down at the School End where I can't really tell who is who any more.

Where I sit in upper loft the lights do look dimmed, possibly they are going for a certain ambience with LED bulbs, there are so many to choose from these days and the wrong set have been put in.

Maybe the lino on Tuesday had the same problem and thought the keeper had stopped the cross with his hands instead of the Blackburn defender in the 1st half.
If we’d only drawn the game 0-0,it would’ve been a major talking point,so maybe we need to upgrade the lights before they cost us points with officials not being able to see properly?
Or maybe his guide dog should’ve used the flag instead?

I have a theory...I think it's the jumbotron at the school end casting a shadow. I noticed it first half during the Blackburn game. In answer to the OP, there's enough light live, but I think it appears different if you're watching on the telly.

I watch a load of games on television over here. Many of these are clubs smaller than QPR and QPR's lighting appears the worst by a long way.

What is the problem and can the club fix it?

1 - old lights long overdue and upgrad and replacement, delayed by belt tightening and labour shortages.
2 - fundamentally, very few clubs have the lights on sticks now, almost all of them have lights along the roof top.

Can’t believe how bad the lighting is.
Asked previously but would love for someone with the technical nouse to put together a side by side view of a night match from yesterday and a match from a few years ago.

Anybody?

Exactly & have same problem watching from upper loft, really is poor & one day a ref will say sort your lights out or I cancel match

Thing is it is noticeably bad this season, so why the sudden difference?

I hope that never changes. They look so impressive, towering over the houses when walking through the backstreets to the ground for a Tuesday night game.

And you've got 'light' in your user same so good enough for me.

I find it ok in person but was watching the highlights last night on Quest and it looked a bit embarassing on TV I must admit. Mind you the hosts were all strangely complimentary about the ground.

As someone who hates having the big light on at home anyway I'm ok with it but we may need to fix it if we're going to hoover at any point.

Maybe we’re all a year older than last year.

We've been through this before. There are very exact requirements for the minimum standard of lighting based on precise measurements across the whole pitch.

Also has been mentioned, after every game, the club, our opponents, the referee and his observer all submit reports, plus maybe one or two people from the EFL might watch the odd game from the KPFS and none of all those reports or people have led to anything being said/reported leads me to suspect that there isn't really a 'problem'.

It seems like a whole row of bulbs are out on the right hand floodlight at the school end

Don't think they have ever been that great but lately have become embarrassing. Sure the led lighting is a factor. Surely can't be that expensive to sort. And any cost would not count against us with ffp.

That's a fantastic clip Bosh, ta. Old John had a good head for heights it seems - no chance I'd have been up there - sterner stuff.

Maybe they're dimming the lights to set a romantic mood for Austin and Bklynranger and his 90 % non sexual stare..?

Cannot post this picture but the position of the bulbs this season is totally different to previous season. They now seem to be in one block of 4x4 or 5x5 whereas previously it seems that less bulbs were used by strategically better placed and angled.
