Thanks Clive.

So, is this a case of the signing being instigated by Belk and his team, and Beale happened to be aware of the player previously, rather than vice versa?

Either way, seems positive that they are aligned.

Does this signing meant we are no longer looking at George Cox ?

In one of those vids he was passing and moving (good).
He looked bloody fast too, well to me he did (good).
He has what was once commonly known as a good left peg on him (good).
Next.

So his success rate for crosses is 44%, and for successful passes into the penalty area it's 54%?!

Shit a brick, whatever the rest of his game is like we're not going to be used to that.

Welcome to the house of fun, Mijnheer Paul.

Let's hope we don't get drawn away to the scum in the Cup, in case it turns out to be a Bridge Too Far for the man from Arnhem.

It's good to see that we have been tracking these' and supposedly other players, for quite a long time. Checking character as well as ability.

Was thinking something along those lines as well, although we have to replace McCullum also. Cox hopefully. Unless Nico is the back-up there.

And that's assuming we will play with Kakay, Uncs or Moses at RWB. Unless its a 4-man defence, then I suppose we are OK with what we have. But the first two signings suggest we will play 5 at the back: a defender who does best in the left of a 3-man defence and a LWB. To then play a flat back 4 would perhaps be a bit strange.

Little known fact - Croydon is twinned with Arnhem. It's a sign.

Or it could be seen as an attacking full back with licence to push up on the left and a left sided CB with the pace to cover in behind him. Don't forget Field is left footed too, can easily drop in to help cover when Paal pushes on and Chair cuts inside, etc...

Ultimately I think with the lack of financial resources and only 1 short summer window, we're not going to have all the pieces Beale wants to play the system and formation he prefers. I doubt we'll see his version of QPR for another few transfer windows, especially if we don't sell anyone.

He talked quite a lot about admiring managers that adapt to the players they have before implementing things over time - he gave Tuchel and Ancelloti as examples - so maybe he's going with back 3 out of necessity for now, with the plan to change down the line with more suitable players. The lads we have signed give us some options at least. I'm sure he will mix it up early on and work it out - that's a big positive of an elite coach.

Except that at times Paal is called a left back and this 'half space' he finds in the final third is when he comes inside the winger.

I think and hope, that both signings will be comfortable in either system as we need to be flexible, in order to make it more difficult for the opposition to find a successful 'game plan'.

Watching some of the videos at the bottom of the article it looks like he occupies some of the areas that Chair plays in. It will be interesting to see how he links up with Chair and Willock. If they’re both still here of course. Definitely looks like a player that will add something to our team, certainly going forwards.

I don't understand all this hype and worry about George Cox. Has anyone here ever seen him play? Fortuna Sittard aren't exactly a household name!!

Well, I always call him George Cole for some reason.
Having Arthur at wing-back is exciting to me.

Just an observation...

His report card says his preferred foot is right, but all his work was on the Left including that thunderbolt at the end.

Is he defo right footed?

Edit: The Bristol City one says left.

I noticed that. He says in the offish interview he's left footed.
