Saints are hitting a decent bit of form at the right time, but we've been conistantly solid away for a few games now. Ronnie will be up for this!

It's got a 1-1 all over for me - which will be a very respectable result if we can go on and nick a win v The Blades on Saturday. Would delighted with a 7 pointer this week...

COYR's!

Spent the evening building an Ottoman bed and whilst I did have the game on the tv, I wasn’t fully engaged …and it seemed I wasn’t the only one .
From What I saw , and it was only bits and pieces, we didn’t look too bad first half .
Terrible second goal and that’s the game done there for me . Got torn to shreds after that .
Not going to pile in on who was to blame and who isn’t good enough.
It’s all been said and not just this evening . Goals around half time continue to kill us and we don’t seem to learn from our mistakes.

Madsen injury is a killer . Not just this season but for our financial future potentially. He has to be sold this summer, simply because there isn’t anybody else who is a sellable asset right now and that might be unlikely now . Unfortunately we come back to Ben Williams and his team really. The facts are there for us all to see. We say , with some truth that Madsen needed to be rested , but why ?
They should be conditioned and fit enough to play 46 games in 9 months .
But they are not and questions need to be asked ….and answered.
CN could gain a lot of favour this summer by doing his homework and growing the pills to move his best mate on, and get a performance and fitness staff in that are fit for purpose. Who have experience in working in the same sport perhaps ?
Seems unlikely though .
We were also told Cook was rested on Saturday ..? Rested for what ?

Feared the worst in the pub when the team news came in. The dreaded three-gamer and no changes…

4-4-2 was never going to be the one tonight. Appalling management IMO. That’s a Varane-Hayden-Madsen kind of game. Maybe even Esquerdinha on the left sort as some sort of cover and you earn the right to play.

He’s yet to do a lot to suggest he’s got much about him as a Championship manager but once they’re out there you need some leadership and in that XI I’m begging Hayden to stand up. 30 going on 40 and incapable of covering any let alone all of the gaping holes the formation and overall lack of fitness created.

Saito. Away from home again. Just play Kolli there mate. Play Esq. Play Andy Sinton. 1700 people in that away end could have done what he did tonight. Like having a sheet of tracing paper on the left wing.

Feel a bit for Kolli, Walsh and a few of the other younger ones. None were any good but it’s a game you’re relying on big performances from senior players. The blokes. Kone my MOTM by some distance and he was a 6 at best.

Personally thought Kolli did nothing wrong in the first half, and connected things well. Didn’t lose the ball, and worked hard to close down. Possibly changed up at HT with Bennie due to recent injury history and playing 80 mins at the weekend.

Kone - I saw a total non-performance tonight. Great at the weekend, did absolutely nothing tonight, might as well have not been playing.

Saito, don’t even get me started.

Vale hit and miss.

Hayden mostly poor.

Edwards decent.

Mbengue erratic.

I suspect not since Alec Guinness' face in 'Bridge Over the River Kwai' has anyone realised the magnitude of their error!

After our good performance at Hull, I didn't have massive hope that we would put together two away wins, but at the same time I wasn't expecting that.

I actually thought we were OK if toothless first half. I had made the mistake of thinking Walsh had cracked it and was going to develop into a useful keeper but having made a hash of the corner just fell apart second half and turned himself into some sort of a nightmare mash up of Lumley / Roberts and Harper.

Hayden had a really poor game just when we needed him, the Saito signing looks ever more like the luxurious waste of time and money it probably was, but at least Edwards first half reminded of his abilities.

Vale seems a strange player, clearly plenty of ability on offer, so one hopes with experience will get better. I enjoyed him making up for his own terrible error in the first half; a good sign. But other than that, apart from the major crime of looking far too much like some resident of The Shed in the late 80s, he doesn't half blow hot and cold.

Normally I would be bubbling with fury at manager and players, but with the injury crisis getting ever worse, I feel like the true ire has to be directed somewhere else.

Sigh.

I think that should just be Clive's match report, in all honesty

Rotten in Soton…..

Basically we bin these games off like we do with cup games, except there’s another one just around the corner if you lose so less jeopardy, unless relegation looms.

Meantime, you kill the most consistent player to death in the process, despite having clear indicators from previous games that there’s a high likelihood of injury.

Lucky we didn’t lose another player last night but we will before the season is done snd it’s likely to be Kone if we keep this up.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Appreciate this feels largely academic now, but it occurred to me after the Hull game that, with so many teams all eyeing up the sixth playoff spot, our Coventry-deficit goal difference could plausibly come back to haunt us if we were in the running at the end of the season... Even if the gap weren't now looking insurmountable, a minus 6 goal difference would make it very difficult in such a congested table.

I’ve never understood why fans clap the side after a performance like that from the players who were an embarrassment to the shirt. I was at Coventry away and couldn’t believe there were people clapping players after a performance like that. Some of those players tonight showed they’re not good enough for this level. Their body language was appalling. Jogging when tracking back. Not closing down. Gutted for our fans. No doubt we will get some more rubbish from Stéphan in his post match interview.

I was there clapping at the end. I don’t understand why so many fans left with 20-30 minutes to go. I clapped the players for coming over when they must have wanted to walk straight off.
I clapped them because I am a QPR fan.
I clapped them because I have had s**t days at work.
I clapped them because they will be playing on Saturday.
You may not agree, but I hope that answers your query .

It might have been mentioned already, but its (imho) worth putting the following out there just to cling to some positivity in amongst all this pain and wreckage:

- We earned 4pts from the recent Cov and Charlton games and I think people were pretty ok/happy with that.

- We then drew 1-1 with Blackburn, 1-1 with Hull and last night drew 1-1 at Soton. Alright, we didn't, but I think everyone would have been happy with this decent scenario, which would have put us on 47pts after 34 games.

- Guess what. In the real world we're on 47pts after 34 games. Perspective.

- Yes, I'm leaving GD out of all this.

What a depressing watch that was. Two huge moments in the game was the loss of Madsen and that awful second goal. The team looked lost when Madsen went off. Looking for leaders then and there weren’t any. For me that second goal was a Walsh error. That ball, once past Dunne, had goalkeeper 100% all over it. A truly shocking error and took everything out of that team.

The result was then a disaster. We were awfully awful.

All made even worse by being made to walk all around the ground and through happy Saints fans to get back to the car.

A real shit show. Another bad day at the office. Stephan has an uphill climb for Saturday.

We’ll lose games. Drop points. But that was a poor performance from a scratch team due to injuries. So much wrong. So depressing but it’s one game and we move on. But people at the top can’t hide.

Someone has to discuss performance with the performance director. We’re supposedly a data driven club and it’s time for someone to look at the data and come to some hard decisions because it ain’t working. It’s affecting players careers. It’s making the manager manage on the back foot. It’s screwing our prime strategy of selling on players!

Similarly if last night had been a meek 2-0 the feeling would be different and result largely written off due to injuries/the opponent’s perceived strength/depth.

It’s the performance though. Serious football teams don’t turn that second half in regardless of the players available and a serious manager doesn’t pick a basically flat 4-4-2. The body language and mentality were just crap.

awful. i thought we would lose, predicted 2-0 never expected a 5-0 drubbing , we are so INCONSISTENT a real JEKYLL AND HYDE team, it is not a roller coater cos they are predictable, you never know what qpr team is turning up.
i switched off at 2-0 and would have been gone by 3-0 , we were dismal, walsh has a bit of blame, how was he beaten by the smallest player for the 2nd? i mean how was he outjumped? how how?
it is not like saints dominated, were top class etc we imo rolled over , not even chasing shadows.
if players were upset at end with fans, who paid to be there etc, they wouldn't like what i was saying. now madsen injured so i ask , HOW FIT IS THEIS TEAM? why so many injuries? is there a training issue? conditioning? madsen was hardly breaking his neck to get ball when hammy went .

It's a personal choice of course. I left after the 4th went in cos I'd had enough. If I had stayed until the end I don't believe I would have clapped them as there was nothing to applaud. In my view, respect, plaudits and support have to be earned in all walks of life including football and if the team put on a performance like that it seems disingenuous to applaud it. It was utter garbage. As others have said, Southampton didn't really look all that and they won 5-0. Says it all

Glory hunter, me
