But perfectly fair points about standards at the club, and that starts with the people at the top. Much appreciated Clive. Twelve games to go, you'll be delighted to hear.

I ranted about it on the Hoops & Dreams pod last night but game management of this team is bonkers. Wrexham at home was a special one but Tuesday was mad. 1-0 down right on half time just defend the corner, nothing else to do but you have one bloke unmarked 3 yards out, our defence too far away from the keeper allowing space and easy runs all before your keeper does that. Then second half, you just stay in the game, nothing stupid get to 60-70 mins at 0-2 and try and play on their nerves nick a goal make it difficult but not a comically piss poor goal for 0-3. Then we get a free kick and rather than just take sting out of the game which is clearly over we push everyone forward, your centre halves both up with only one player back, a quick counter and they are 3 against 1 in our half, the kind of goal you expect to see in the last minute when you are throwing everyone forward. Nowhere near good enough [Post edited 26 Feb 11:53]

Felt for the 1,800 fans tucked away in the corner somewhere. My kids had enough after the 3rd shouted and swore at the TV and went to their respective bedrooms only to pop back down just before the end to see the final score - Ouch!! They will be back with me on Saturday in W12 - The wife says its child cruelty and I'm starting to think she might be right....

You do wonder what gets said/done at half time in the dressing room. Feels like the whale music CD has been re-discovered. Does Stephan need to throw more tea cups around?

| Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report on 12:30 - Feb 26 with 2225 views | 7374Ranger | That was a good report, but of course, a very accurate and difficult read. We are QPR and accept this mediocrity. Absolutely pathetic. Something has to change in the summer if this is ever going to begin to improve. Rueben has money and absolutely has to hire people who can turn this club around. He can start by poaching an experienced Chief Executive/ director of football with a record of achievement. From this a team of football performance management people rather than Ben Williams and his staff of Cycling expertise. The number of muscle injuries has got to reduce (no club in the Championship has close to the amount QPR have. I recall back in Gerry Francis’ last season that QPR had an appalling injury record, but those included at least 2 ACL ,numerous ligament and bone injuries. I know Larkeche and Dembele have ACL injuries, but the rest seem to be muscular injuries. As for the defeat on Tuesday, I switched off my tablet after the 3rd goss as l went in, didn’t wait to see the replay, so was not aware of how bad it turned out to be. The players ratings seem accurate. Saturday will not be a better watch if Walsh is selected because you just know that Wilder will have his team exploit Walsh’s weakness at crosses. He did this a few seasons ago when QPR led at half time through Austin’s goal and had his team deliver countless crosses in a 3-1 comeback win. | | | |

Cur our dressing room time to 10 mins and send them out for 5 mins to do attack Vs defence, incl a couple of corners until kick off

| Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report on 13:30 - Feb 26 with 1930 views | JamesB1979 | I am in a minority in that I’m happy with what Nourry has done so far. Not all good but generally happy. BUT, the points on fitness and injuries are bang on. The players are unfit, the best players are run into the ground and then get injured, the number of injuries to key players is ridiculous. We cannot afford this for all kinds of reasons that have been mentioned. As a fanbase we are unbelievably patient and reasonable, for the most part, all we want is for the club to say: “Yep, we got that wrong. The fitness of the players was poor. The injury record was shocking. We are building a plan and will make changes so that we do things differently next season.” I am not saying “sack X and Y” either, who the hell knows. That’s Nourry’s job to get the right people in. But for the love of God, just admit it’s a huge problem and that you are doing something about it. | | | |

| Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report on 13:51 - Feb 26 with 1811 views | Logman | Very good report which has opened my eyes to the scale of the task in hand. This paragraph alone rings alarm bells without all the issues of our own making. 'As Julien Stéphan sought to wrestle back some semblance of control in this game he reached for Kealey Adamson, Daniel Bennie, Kieran Morgan and Jonathan Varane. Opposite number Tonda Eckert brought on Shea Charles (£10m), Samuel Edozie (£6m), Ross Stewart (£8m), Tom Fellows (£8m) and Cameron Archer (£15m)' And this situation is only going to become more frequent in seasons to come So I'm going to draw a line under it and keep the faith for this Saturday. It's going to be a really hard game - Wilder is going to be at his most bloodthirsty after last night. [Post edited 26 Feb 13:56]

I've been flagging this issue for some time now. Dig a little deeper and look at the number of goals conceded inside the first 10 minutes as well as either side of half-time. Southampton's first 3 goals were scored in these periods, effectively putting the game out of QPR's reach. Mentality minions.
| Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report on 14:17 - Feb 26 with 1707 views | mart_Goblin | Tough report to do i’d imagine , but spot on as usual. Something that alarmed me this week was my non reaction to the result and performance. Admittedly I was doing something else Tuesday evening and I had it on in the corner of the room to check every few minutes , so I wasn’t completely entrenched in the match as I normally would be , but after Coventry I was absolutely livid…fuming …over the top if I’m honest. But Tuesday was a shrug and moan under my breath . I thought about it over the last 48 hours and I think it’s just the fact that I know this team under JS has this result and performance in them . It’s not a surprise. The Cov game was at the beginning of something new and I had hoped that the gob-bumming 2 or 3 times a season had stopped (stupidly I admit after that pre season). But it hadn’t and here I (I can only speak for myself ) am again resigned that under another head coach and another group of players, we will do this and it really is no surprise. However, upon catching up with people’s responses and reading different angles from different fans on here this week I’ve felt myself getting more annoyed again. I know it’s easy to write the word ‘standards’ sarcastically after another lacklustre performance or heavy defeat, as some do, but it’s relevant . It really is . Clive hinted at it but how many more times must the incredible support inside the stadium and thousands and thousands elsewhere have to feel the embarrassment we do on such a regular basis? How many times must we put up with the upper school end celebrating wildly as we trudge off in silence numb to result and the noise still inside LR ? I know it’s football and everybody gets thumped occasionally. But ours are now really regular and I’m utterly sick of it . I was really happy after the result Saturday but I wasn’t under any illusion that we were now heading for sunlit uplands. Let’s be honest . This team for the most part , not always , but for the most part has to wait for an opponent to have a bad day at the office to get a result especially away from home. We were bang average for a lot of the match and yet I come on to this message board afterwards and fans are being moaned at for simply pointing out things that could be done better by players and staff. It’s what being a fan is . A lot on here , myself included are told we are too negative. And perhaps we are? But flipping ‘eck, it’s surely only a natural human response to 30 years of mostly poor football and terrible business management and day to day running from a veritable army of mostly useless t*ssers. And the one or 2 good’uns we looked too as shining rays of hope out of the gloom have for whatever reason, been moved on too now. I love this club . But boy sometimes it’s hard to answer why at times . Apologies . I told you I was getting more annoyed as the week went on 😊. | | | |
| Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report on 14:39 - Feb 26 with 1598 views | Benny_the_Ball | There some truth to that, Mart. In the past, the internet knives would be out. These days there's more of a begrudging acceptance of such results and, in some quarters, excuses made. It's almost as if we've allowed our standards to drop, something that will not go unnoticed by the club. For me the on-pitch issues (injuries, recruitment, etc.) is endemic of a wider problem; the lack of vision and creativity of our board. It continues to explore out-dated strategies that, even if they were to succeed, won't move the needle much. Applying analytics to an old strategy doesn't make it a fresh idea. Whether we like or not, modern society has moved on and to succeed you need to embrace it with more creative strategies (such as those deployed by Birmingham and Wrexham). Indeed, the restrictions posed by PSR demands it as, bar a few exceptions such as infrastructure, rich owners can no longer spend personal wealth on their clubs. I had hoped that one of the few advantages of hiring a young and inexperienced CEO would be that he'd bring fresh ideas to the table. However, that's proven not to be the case. Now that's not a slight on Christian's performance as ultimately he's an employee who takes direction from the board. Both boards (club and message) needs to pull its collective socks up. We need to be less accepting of low standards and the club needs to embrace and come up with modern ideas for modern problems. [Post edited 26 Feb 14:49]

| Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report on 14:45 - Feb 26 with 1592 views | NewYorkRanger | Thanks for the report - about as balanced as it could be in the wake of a 5-0 defeat! I can see you make a lot of effort to deliver a balanced view based on reality, rather than an emotional diatribe that I think we could all dekiver after that. You raise some good points about acceptable standards, and expected QPRisms, cos that's who we are and what we should expect. But we don't ever expect that performance even if we know it's somewhere in the locker. Conversely, my own reaction was to be so pissed off at the 4th goal that I practically ran back to the car immediately. However, halfway up the M3 I was quite happy about being closer to home, in the warm and not really thinking about the game. Perhaps I too, have become desensitised to all of this nonsense. | Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report on 16:53 - Feb 26 with 1112 views | NorthantsHoop | I always felt that the Hull game was winnable, but just didn't fancy us at Southampton for a lot of reasons laid out by Clive. That said I didn't put us down for a 5-0 thrashing, but once that 2nd went in, thought we are in trouble here. But Southampton are a team that can draw on an expensive range of talent in this division by the virtue of their status and plans for promotion. Basically beaten by a much better team, but agree the manner of the defeat, standards etc. has the usual question marks about what goes on at QPR. The next two home games are tough as well against a team that should be higher up in the table and another who are pushing for automatic promotion. Can the Rangers step up, not sure? | | | |

It was bad enough watching 11 geezers in that underboob and marmite monstrosity of a kit play like a bunch of heavily sedated rhinos but to have to write about it later..? Oy vey. I was deeply disappointed after Blackburn but this had me huddled in the corner of the shower muttering 'it won't wash off... it won't wash off...' From the comedy stylings of the Joe Walsh experience to seeing Madsen make his way off with legs like snapped candles, just fan-fckin-tastic.

Yes but Charlton drew 1-1 there on Saturday. Southampton weren't even playing that well in the first half. Then we throw one in just before the break and it's done.
| Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report on 17:31 - Feb 26 with 984 views | ManinBlack | The thing I noticed about the fifth goal was how our man actually pulled out of the challenge on the edge of the box allowing a free hit on goal. It rather summed up the cowardly abject display of the whole team. Of course the parachute money plays a big part in this league but we do surrender far too often against these sides the moment we go two down. The sheer amount of tonkings we have been getting have, in the most part, been against richer clubs or at least bigger clubs. We do seem to have an inferiority complex embedded in the club. I feel as though I should already be preparing myself for 5-0 defeats to Wolves and Burnley next season at least in one of the two meetings with each side. I look at Millwall and see a club with limited funds like us but I can't imagine them losing 7-1 or 5-0 against clubs with big money behind them. They don't lose a game or two heavily each season like us. We make it so easy for the opposition at times. Not only do we suffer embarrassing big defeats like on Tuesday and early cup exits but we also specialise in not beating teams in the relegation dogfight. It just rolls on year after year, decade after decade and nobody seems capable or wants to change it. Our motto should be shit happens, we simply shrug our shoulders and carry on as before. We simply exist to make up the numbers as though we are an amateur club in a professional league. I am viewed as a fossil for pointing out this club is dying on it's feet going nowhere because we need funds to change it like other clubs have done with investment over time. I notice Middlesbrough have now gone off the boil so no doubt they will get back on track when they visit us and without Madsen I would suggest we have no chance. There is no way he will be back fit that soon. Our season will now fizzle out defeated by an injury crisis probably of our own making. | | | |
