Just asking the question as me personally am needing a visit to the holy grail.
Cricket , cycling and random sports events in darts, golf, snooker and athletics doesn't really match up for too long.
Even though when the season starts and start spectating once more, my girlfriend hates it as the only time of the week when I am seriously stressed is generally 3pm to 5pm Saturdays or when our rearranged games take place !!!
But yep am needing the season to start.
Saw in 4 4 2 magazine, we are predicted to finish 24th out of 24. I am definitely not having that and you can tell the season has yet to start as my expectations are increasing.
But what gets you through the summer weekends with no QPR !!

QPR not losing for weeks on end. What could be better? I love close season.
Exactly. Last season was the first where I savoured international weekends purely for that reason.
The lure is still there, missed out on Watford tickets and on hols for Southampton but I’m quite content with an Ipswich dabble and things finally getting serious mid September.

Bloody hell, I completely missed the Watford tickets, didn't even see them go on sale!

Wish it would last a bit longer to be honest. I've been really enjoying my weekends, a few trips, the cricket, the beach, some gigs, long may it continue. Happy for the season to start around mid-October I think. I'll be ready by then

Says the man who has just finished a Hoops double-header middle-Europe away day travelogue...!
TBF I quite enjoy doing those. I'd like to write a lot more like that, but it's difficult when you get into the drag of Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday previews, reports, day job etc.

Also watching cycling, coaching GAA and catching up with friends and family.
I took six weeks off LFW recently, not because I needed it or anything, as I really do love you all, but because I was away travelling and I just like switching off during the close/off season, and it really has recharged my enthusiasm for Rangers. Determind not to get down about the challenges ahead.

Quite right, Brian. We’ll wait and see.
Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

The other half made me do that last summer, we were travelling for a month and insisted on no lap top and phone off, no day job, no LFW, no Twitter. Must say it made a hell of a difference to my mood, and my sleep.

Was just chatting about this. When I'm away I want no news from home, no phonecalls, no...reality. But there's always one person in the group who'll spend their time looking at the phone reading their feeds, uttering random stuff like "Jesus!!!.......a liquidiser...that's desperate...the poor man...what's wrong with the world....."
And it's NEVER good news either!!

Quite right, you two. No news (websites) from home. My wife has her phone - if they want you, they’ll find you if it’s important. I took mine away for the first time a few weeks ago to stay in touch with the kids so I didn’t have to pester Mrs M every time I wanted to know if the boys and my dog were ok.
Absolutely unnecessary, but that’s because my wife had hers. I really didn’t need mine, but didn’t want to be a pain.

I bring my phone, but it's usually turned off. I give people at home the number of the doom scroller (I like that phrase, I'm keeping it) as my emergency contact. If they need me, they can reach me on that, it's always on. If I need them, I turn my phone on.
As Blur would say "it gives me a sense of enormous well-being".

Doing stuff like this:
“ I bring my phone but it’s normally turned off”
That really fits the original lyrics. Did you mean that?

Brian have you seen this? Keeps threatening to turn into a Reeves & Mortimer sketch but always stays to the point. Concise and expertly explained. I played a bit as a kid but never kept it up. Still love the game.
Hurling aside I find this film very meditative and calming. Just a few deft boss to sliothar sound-effects added and it’d be an ASMR classic.

Yes, I have. It's mesmeric. That's filmed 100 yards from where I live now in the Mardyke Pitch on the opposite bank of the River Lee. I walk past it every day and I often think of Ringy. I played as a kid too but only for fun. it was all Gaelic Football where I was brought up in West Cork so that became the focus.
Man, you can get annything posted on LFW!

I read a lot in my younger years and have started to do so again especially this summer. The fast show is being repeated on BBCi player so that’s killed a few hours. Thankfully work is busy and I do the odd Saturday . Can’t wait for Watford on Saturday. It’s a leisurely stroll to the ground for me so bring it on .
