WLS - Edwards might be moved into QPR’s midfield 19:19 - Mar 10 with 5123 viewsMarkofthegrove

Interesting stuff here because he is starting to tie himself in knots. Whose fault that is I don't know, but we have probably gone over that many times already.

He says, "I have to find some options. That’s why I wanted to see Ronnie in the last 15 to 20 minutes of the (Middlesbrough) game as a midfielder.”

Well, you bombed out a fantastic option that would run, tackle, read the game, and look like he gives a toss.

Also he says: “To change the shape we need experienced players who understand very quickly what you want to do on the pitch.

“I think now, in this moment, you need to be very simple. The more simple, the better it is, because when you drop in terms of confidence, especially with some young players, you don’t have to invent difficult things—just stay simple and try to rebuild confidence.”

Now this is where his complete lack of flexibility can really be called into question. Ok, there is no one in their 30's in the current starting lineup, but they are all between 22 and 30 (if cook isn't playing). We are hardly flinging the class of 92' out there together, absolute nonsense and complete inflexibility on his part. It worries me because he is looking for excuses and not trying to find solutions.

I know a midfielder at Norwich who wouldn’t have let us down. Has lots of experience and is an honest pro. He won’t let us down.

Do it. Yesterday. The geezer is mustard and will be our best player. It doesn’t need too much thought or discussion. Not a dig at posters but at the coaching staff

Damning stuff. Varane, Hayden and Morgan basically being deemed not good enough by the head coach. Now having to play a CB in CM, joke.

This is JS saying to Nourry that the midfield he has put together is dog shyte. A lot of people on here were warning if Madsen got injured this team would collapse. Surprise, surprise.

I still can't believe Nourry thought a midfield of Varane, Madsen, Morgan and Tuck was going to be able to compete in the Championship.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

You want confirmation what a gratuitous signing Ronnie was? Well here it is. Break the budget to get in a CB that means you have to bin a prospect up to Aberdeen for AND then bench your best central defender. Then play him at right fckn back even though your captain has a season and a half experience playing there. Then put him in as a CB with the wrong partner and watch the team fall apart conceding 11 without reply.

Then, decide that JCS and Cookie are available, so stick him in midfield for 5 minutes 'til M'Bengue gets injured so that you have to pull him back to RB.

Or, you could have spent that £4.5m on three players to cover injuries.

And maybe not loan your actual damage limitation centre mid out.

Madness anywhere else; par for the 'kin course at our 🤡 club...

Can we go out yet?

Kieran Morgan has not been great in the minutes he’s managed to play this season but he’s 19. Hayden Hackney was on loan at Scunthorpe at the same age and they were relegated that year. As you’ve repeatedly said, now is the time to play younger players so we should stick with Morgan as he’ll only get better. We should have started Edwards in mf against Boro. We’re both in agreement over Varane, who hurts my eyes.

Kieron Morgan would be doing better if he was playing alongside Field. He's been moved from pillar to post by our Chef. How can he be expected to do well against that Boro defence when he is thrust into an unfamiliar role ?

I think we should have tried to keep Field and played him. Then Morgan could have gone out on loan for the rest of the season, hopefully developing by playing 20 games at League one/Two

Sam is under contract to us Pedro, we decide where he goes.

Irrelevant anyway as seemingly senior pro's are not welcome here.

I deduced that getting a loan fee and potentially transfer fee for Field was necessary to balance the books given that our conveyor belt’ of sellable assets has imploded in self-induced injury.

The irony that our payday loan / cash cow is Sam Field in the end.

I'm not convinced by Morgan. I do feel he should have had more minutes earlier in the season when things were going well rather than thrown to the wolves now, though.

Does that mean Steve Cook might no longer be "resting", or do we think Mighty Jake is going to play 90 minutes tomorrow and then again on Saturday?

It was made clear by the club that Field wanted to go out on loan to get regular playing time. Keeping a senior player festering on the bench can be counter productive. But I agree Morgan would have been better served being on loan this season.

I think this is the issue people have, he shouldn't have been festering on the bench.

In Field’s case it would not have been counter-productive either - he is the consummate pro. Hopefully, next season, with JS gone, he will resume as a regular beside Madsen and provide some experience, balance and protection in mid-field

It’s been a completely wasted year for Morgan and Kolli.

Both our best young prospects, totally mismanaged.

Getting splinters on the bench, or not even making the squad - save for the odd few minutes here and there does nothing for no one. It’s little wonder why either has not performed to the standards set last year. All players need a run of games, especially young developing players.

Really really poor from Nourry.

You put Dunne and Cook at CB and Edwards in front of them in defensive midfield and we may stand a chance of getting a point or so out of the next two games.

Never knowingly right.

I mean if it isn't striking the rest of the people as some form of ludicrous that we're considering moving our £4.5m left sided centre back into midfield because we've got nobody else, and cover him with somebody whose legs are held together with elastic bands and chewing gum when we're playing away tonight and again on Saturday, while our best and most experienced defender sits on the bench and our best and most experienced left sided midfielder plays for Norwich, then I'm concerned for them.

I love the way that Sam Field has become suddenly the answer to most of our problems. Try Edwards in midfield; why not?

It's just a shame that we don't have anyone who can play the role role/purpose as Madsen. Morgan has that potential, with more mobility.

Morgan played well when we had a 3 man midfield.

I don’t know why we don’t simply revert to that and play him with two of the other options instead of leaving gaping holes for half decent opposition to bum us in.

Just sticking Edwards forward into a 2 man midfield won’t help much IMO. Especially if we keep passing to the crowd instead of teammates.

3 up front is perfectly serviceable with a better selection (deselection of Saito) and may even stop us from breaking Kone, especially if we give Dick some supporting pace with Smyth and Mbengue getting forward when in possession.

As for Field, who also played well in a 3, I assume we needed to release some wages to pay for Edwards’ salary and balance the books, hence the loan.

If not, can’t work out why we let home him go ahead of another midfielder. His mum will be spitting out the knitting, muttering curses politely, under her breath.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Well I also love the way people go "as if Sam Field's THE ANSWER TO ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS".

Who's said that? Who's said he's the answer to all of our problems? He's not.

However, if you're so short at left back and left sided central midfield that you're playing a centre back there, he might be an answer to that, as a left sided central midfielder who can play left back.
