So, it looks like Boris Johnson will be named as next PM tomorrow. This country has hit rock bottom. If you think Theresa May was the worst, then think again.

If I had my way we'd just delete all these fcking threads. Round and round and round they go, everybody just getting more and more entrenched in the view they had to start with. Pointless, and puts a lot of people off posting.

we would stick to the football, but "round and round and round we go"....................................................and down the plug hole

I don't know which is worse at the moment.

Saying ‘they are both as bad/useless as each other’ without giving factual reasons is a proper cop out.

It doesn’t make you look cool, it makes you look ignorant.

Corbyn has faults but if you really think he could be as bad as the last three PMs by ANY standard then you need your nut looking at.

Even if you are not a socialist or particularly agree with nationalisation, Nuclear Disarmament, or improved worker rights etc you have to acknowledge the immense damage and reduction in human development the Conservatives and Lib Dem’s have brought upon this nation over the last nine years.

Blair and Brown, neither of which were my cup of tea, had terrible records near the end but fck me they never oversaw the deaths of 1,000s of people waiting for benefits, illegal expulsions of British citizens to countries they left as toddlers, or bringing the actual existence of the Union of the U.K. to the brink amongst many, many, other things.

Think on. At the very least, Labour must be the least worst option surely.

And yes, I’m expecting replies about the IRA, Hamas, Hizbollah, and Anti Semitism. They have been so thoroughly de bunked that I don’t even see them in the newspapers anymore.

Don’t forget all those that died in an illegal war (so he Did kill people) and overseeing the worst economic decline for centuries. Labour have form with the economy....Callaghan in the 70’s, 3 day week, “crisis ? What crisis ?”
And don’t tell me it was a global recession, plenty of countries avoided it. Labour came into power in ‘97 with one of the best economic positions any new government has started with. It took them 10 years to turn it into one of the worst. “Get rid of Boom or Bust”, well they got rid of Boom alright.

Politics has changed, they are all liars. It needs to change more. Labour & Torys glory's are in the past. There are no other viable options .....yet! In our wonderful new PC world, there will always now be a number of issues where an ever increasing number of people will disagree and protest. No one party will get a decent majority for many years IMO. There’s too many divisions.

Well this is true, people aren't even talking the same language when it comes to politics.

For example I continually hear we're all suffering from austerity, but then I check the figures and we're still borrowing billions to spend on public services every year....just not quite as much as before.

I wonder what they'd call actually cutting spending enough to balance the books like Ireland or Canada did.

Equally, no one forces anyone to read all posts or subjects.
Everyone can decide to swerve if they so desire.

However, I take your point a out going round in circles and shall add no further.

Besides, we have much to look forward to. Ashes, getting a Striker, an Ice cold beer in 30+ degrees, etc.

Easy one for me.

If you don't like what you read you can either ignore, block, or reply.

Choose the option that gives you the least stress would be my advice.

you could say exactly the same about the football chat on here. i've supported qpr for 45 years and it's the same now as it was then. too many keepers/not enough keepers, shit manager/give him a chance, promotions/relegations, chairman should do A/chairman should do B, love/hate the new kit, spent too much/not spent enough, blah, blah, blah. endless......

the politics stuff for me is interesting as people don't come here to talk it (like on politics boards) and therefore you get to see real people's attitudes, biases, prejudices and thoughts. i like questioning their reasoning but, as you say, it's pointless trying to change anyone's mind. does anyone change their mind about how many keepers is too many based on the crap posted on here? I doubt it.

also, puts people off posting about what?

It was Ted Heath that introduced the three day week. My Dad was furious - he'd only been doing two days up to then......

I feel your pain, Clive, having to read all the political stuff when it goes batsh1t crazy, but generally I enjoy them.

I don't post much on them as they tend to be about British politics and I haven't lived there for many years, so i cklearly know very little. My parents still live over there, though, and also all British politics affects Ireland, so I find them informative.

I skip over some posters' stuff as they've clearly given up on debating, reasoning or, y'know, enjoying life, but most posters are informative and light-hearted.

We have super fast fiber broadband now.
It works like this...
- Man comes round and fiddles with the router, speed goes through the roof.
- Over the course of the next three months, speed slowly drains away, getting steadily worse every day.
- Three months down the line, Simmo and I try and stream a QPR match onto the TV, by which point the speed is barely dial up and we miss most of the game.
- Do a speed test on the Sky website, they say there's a problem and a man will come.
- Three days later, man comes.
- Man comes round and fiddles with the router, speed goes through the roof.

I voted remain holding my nose as hated the leave campaigns xenophobia. I would usually have voted Labour. 5 million Labour voters voted leave and Brexit has become the dominant issue in the last few years. I would want to see the dominant issue as austerity. I am not a massive support of those strong remainers such as Tony Blair, John Major and Labour need to write an alternative manifesto in terms of economics in the post Brexit world.

The #FBPE grouping is such a weird coalition of absolute wallies and rabid centrists. The most self-defeating political 'movement' imaginable, and more responsible for the impending no deal Brexit than anyone else.
