Went today and what a class Joe Root is. A truly exceptional batsman and a lovely person to boot!
Thank god for Root as without him and Stokes to a lesser extent, our batting verges on Minor Counties standard overall, it's that poor. It's a good win but let's not kid ourselves, Root is papering over some very large cracks.
Sadly until the ECB start prioritising first class red ball cricket a bit more then batsmen of the class and quality of him won't be coming along any time soon.
What happened to Mahmood and Fisher? The future three months ago, out of sight now.
Both injured, along with Wood, Archer, Robinson plus a few more. Not sure if that’s bad luck & coincidence or England are doing something wrong as they’ve all got similar injuries too.

Funny how Anderson and Broad go on forever.

Sky had a good feature yesterday afternoon in the tea interval with Nasser Hussain and Simon Doull. They showed the current (lengthy) injury list of England's bowlers and said the reason why so many were out with back injuries especially was because of having a mixed action i.e. their hips and shoulders weren't pointing in the same direction at the point of delivery.

And he's still phenomenal yet again.
Of the Current Big Four he might be the best as the other 3 have far more batting support around them. He is the modern version of George Headley or Allan Border circa 87 carrying his nations hopes upon his shoulders

Fascinating watching the odds for this. With every NZ wicket that falls, both teams rated more likely to win! England in from 4/1 to 8/5, but NZ also in from 5/1 to 7/2.
Worried that England will go into their customary spin panic at the sight of Bracewell, though the change in their mentality after just two matches is striking.

It was the same with that first test. You could have backed both at various times and sat there comfortably waiting to collect as the odds swung so much.

I think the kiwis are going on too long for England to realistically chase the total down.Spoke too soon.
