QPR non-British Isles XI 16:53 - Aug 7 with 3203 viewsQPRSteve

Here's my take:

1. Stejskal
2. Rangel
3. Padula
4. Shittu
5. Maddix
6. Buzsaky
7. Osayi-Samuel
8. Faurlin
9. Helguson
10. Remy
11. Taraabt

Any obvious omissions?

Dieng and Ben Asker were ones I nearly put in.

A few more to consider:

Marc Bircham declared himself as Canadian.

Richard Langley played for Jamaica.

I felt sorry for Eduardo Vargas, as Redknapp insisted on only playing with Charlie Austin as the lone striker, so when Vargas did play he was out of his natural position. He has scored 40 goals for Chile.

Ryan Nelsen was a good player in a bad team.

There were 2 excellent players from Chile TomS if memory serves Vargas and Islea ( bad spelling ) who never delivered for QPR but incredible for Chile.I suspected they were hired mercaniries but never gave much thought that it was a new Country , language and of course that dildo Harry to contend with.
Pity though it was another wasted oppertunity in a bad era for us

You can almost tell your age from that selection. Stuart Leary might have made the list for some of us oldies.

As I recall, good old "not a f**king wheeler dealer" had a fondness for playing Vargas out wide instead of as a striker.

Off the top of my head, consider as available for selection:

Terry Mancini
Stephen Kelly
Damien Delaney
Ian Stewart
Mark Kennedy
Paul McGee
Michael Robinson
Dave McCreery

and you have the bones of a very decent team.

Everyone's forgotten Conor Washington!

Honourable mention to Pat Brady (back row - left hand side) Debut in 1963 against Austria. First Rs Irish international? First post-war Rs international? Spot the young Johnny Giles there too.

Ah, Nick Ward, the man with the bouncing kangaroo goal celebration. Not that he got to wheel it out much.

A contender for the reserve team could be another Aussie, one of the heroes of Hillsborough. Quiz question: Anyone remember his name? No cheating!

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Sorry, no! He was one of the starting 11 at Hillsborough in the 1-3 victory which got us promoted, back on 8th May 2004.

David McCreery (as suggested by FB) would surely make the island of Ireland team. I'm not going to open a debate with Brian as to whether Belfast is in the British Isles...!
