Gaffer on today's defeat 19:14 - Nov 1 with 3777 viewsbosh67

Despite the occasional smile I wouldn't have wanted to be in that dressing room after today's defeat. Hopefully this is another reset moment. This isn't all on the manager by the way, it's a consistent lack of consistency from a group of players, particularly this group, who should be doing better.

Never knowingly right.

Starting XI, formation and set up are on the manager and he got all of them wrong today. Again. A full house at LR to watch that utter dogshît.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Its football.

We are mid table and today we played a team that was in the premier.league last season.

We are in a much better place than we have been for several seasons.

If we lose six on the bounce then we need to worry.

We are far from that. Bad day at the office...

It's Ipswich not Barca FFS they haven't won an away game all season but along come Charity Park Rangers

Today wasn't acceptable and the shrugging of the shoulders and making excuses is part why we've been shit for years

Nothing will improve unless our standards do

That's two bad days at the office in a row as we were terrible at Derby aswell

Today was particularly poor because we got worse and worse after a dodgy start. It was obvious the young Brazilian full back was a mistake from the very first minute when he got roasted for their goal. It was plain Kone can not play that role behind the front man, it was clear the mid two were getting swamped, that Vale was way off his game, but no changes were made. Then when they were it was too late and we got worse still. Very depressing.

I'm not anti JS but he was to blame for today.
1. Not playing Mbengue
2. Not playing RND
3. Playing Vale
4. Not bringing RND & Saito or Smyth on at HT for Cook & Vale

Wild horses couldn't drag me away...

I thought today was very much on him, tactically it was wrong, the press was wrong and we were wide open and overrun at times. Dont get me I'm wrong I like him and managers will make mistakes just as players do

Agreed, and we're certainly in a bad 'trend'.

I didn't see a lot of leadership or belief in that second half - we looked mentally weak, on top of being incompetent in both boxes.

JS needs to wake up and smell the cafe au lait. I'm not very impressed with him, but then apparently I'm not very impressed with anyone. (That's what happens when you have passion and standards.)

Poll: What do you expect from the Charlton game?

Cook not seeing that he is way over the hill doesn`t make it easier for the manager and team. I think he should have left or retired last year and Dunne filled in at CB for him. JCS is still not ready sadly...

Cook's form has really fallen off a cliff, but Dunne has been almost as bad. There's a serious lack of defensive cohesion and positional awareness when we don't have the ball. (And when we do have it, we don't tend to do a lot with it.)

Apart from that . . .

Having a good squad is almost becoming more infuriating than having a small one, where the team picks itself.

My thought are:

1) Play a consistent team of players who are in form. That means right now play Smyth. Play Mbuenge. Play Saito. Don't play Vale, think about dropping Kone (but not for Frey). Then when a player's form goes, play the others who are out of the team.

Smyth scored our winning goal at Bristol, played well against Millwall and Swansea and then is dropped. Why?

2) Don't worry so much about these "three game weeks". Play your strongest team in the first of those three games. Don't think about game two before game one. Deal with any injuries or poor displays after and if there hasn't been any, play your strongest team again in game two.

Really disappointing but it I think what is happening at Leicester at the moment slightly helps JS. Don't ask me why, it just Does.

Absolutely agree. We also lost the previous home game to Millwall so we are on a bit of a roll. You start to wonder if Swansea hadn't been down to ten after 35 minutes if we might have lost that too against 11 men.

Today's game was a reminder how Ipswich bypassed us from league 1 to get in the Premiership and they easily brushed us aside today. As a club we have been static for so long while other clubs transform themselves at a much faster rate as Coventry and Sunderland are currently demonstrating. We accept mediocrity and make excuses for them when they can't handle three game weeks. Losing 4-1 at home to Ipswich used to be unthinkable and it should be unacceptable when they got stuffed by Charlton at their place very recently.

We need to change offices….keep getting stuffed every time we use this one.

Unless we stop conceding, soft, preventable goals and start every game half asleep, we will continue to lose games.

Kone and Vale were poor again today, Esquerdina and Nardi were awful. The constant rotation of the squad is simply not working and there is no consistency, momentum or intensity in our play.

JS, like Marti before him, needs a dose of pragmatism to get us back on track.

And there was me thinking we had a defensive coach.

JS reacted quickly and decisively after Coventry. Isaac Hayden said they'll be in Heston today doing the analysis, which, if true and he didn't actually mean Monday, at least shows pro-activity.

Of course the alternative view point is that we seem to be going the long way round the circle to find the supposedly perfect solution each time, instead of sticking to one approach that worked well against the likes of Charlton and Wrexham.

We lost 1-3 to Ipswich in 2009 and 2006, 2-4 in 2004, and 0-4 in 1979 so it's hardly an unprecedented outlier.
