used to think the pav was a bit of a trot on home games, but that was just a walk...
anyone drink further without stopping in another boozer...bus train and cab included.

Poll: how many games this season....home/away.

The Holborn Wetherspoons is a popular place for a drink before a 12.30 ko,but seeing as my travel companions don’t drink anything at the minute it seems to have fallen by the wayside.

Occasionally I like to start at the River - the Blue Anchor for instance. Then in the manner of Rpocalypse Now I’ll venture into the interior. A stop at The Andover, a longer stop at The Fleppard. Sometimes I even make the game.

Sadly, as I am about 12 seats from an aisle in both directions, and can’t bear the half time Ellerslie crush, I never now drink before a game.

As i arrive in East London for the 12/12.30 kick offs i use the Goldengrove in Stratford as central bar does not sell Ale until 11am & then it's a scrum to get served . Really empty in the Grove & easy to get food etc , i do however steer clear of there if West Ham are at home the same day to avoid being told by 100 people that their uncle used to drive for the Krays .

Always had a deep hatred for the 'appy 'ammers and their total bore off fans who think they are the most special club in the world. Used to live out in Essex so had to endure plenty of them.

Yeah what's it like now you East End muppets who all live in Saafend.

In my nightmares I still see Tony Cottee rolling Steve Yates (really not hard to do) with a few minutes to go at Upton Park before sticking in the winner.

Home fixtures - when I'm around (like for Hull), I don't like being too far away, C & S would be pretty much my limit, Weld, White Horse, Shepherd, more likely.

Imagine having a lovely new stadium with huge concourses with lots of food and beverage offerings and maybe even benches to perch on! Outside, a big fanzone thing with beer and burger trucks, a big screen and stage as well.
I'd happily head there early and tuck-in and wouldnt begrudge dropping £30ish on some beers and burgers if lion's share of that went to the club.

The bloody Chicken Run must have had a capacity of about 38,000 given the number of people who used to staaaaaaaaaaaaaand on there wiv the old maaaaan.

We actually went through a period of drinking in The Dickens next to Paddington station. Goldhawk had been poncified, Brackenbury shut, God knows what you'd say they did to the Bush Ranger, and The Vagrant was only any good in warm weather so we'd do the first half of the lunchtime game there then hop the H&C line and watch the second half in members bar in SAR. Sadly, Briatore put paid to that.

Sounds like my idea of hell. Give me the Uxbridge Road or the backstreets of the Bush. This week I will eat some Chinese food in a great little Szechuan by the green, maybe some falafel in the market, a pint in the White Horse, perhaps another in the Weld, if I'm up for a schlep it would be the Crown and Thai grub. This is our manor, I've never fancied food or drink in a concourse, plastic glasses and plastic environment. Nah, I'll stick with our cave and
my ancestral homeland.

I give you Citi Field, probably the only place I've been ID'd in 35 years.

They'll be back with us soon enough, rattling round in the pleasure dome playing Oxford at home on a Tuesday night.

Same with Fulham and their floating nightclub if they sack Silva.

My 1st away game was at West Ham for the league cup game in October 1976,and we did stand in the chicken run. There were a group of Rangers fans just in front of us so we thought we were safe enough there. We spent most of the game avoiding trouble after I stupidly shouted out for Lampard to be sent off after clattering into Dave Thomas(?)
We won 2-0 and it was a quick dash back to the tube after the game.I told my dad that I was going to the local library about 4pm.I was still back home before he came home from the pub about 11.30.

That new stand is a joke Clive. More like a garden party venue where were they all before Fayed ?!

Welcome to Boston and its sporting environs. You could be Methuzalah and they'd i.d. at Foxborough, The Garden or Fenway Park. Fortunately, that nonsense doesn't happen in local bars.

What you’ve described is a football concentration camp. Like those rock and roll concentration camps they call music festivals these days .
