I hadn’t heard that about Bellamy. Different circumstances, but it’s sad to see such a brilliant career ending in such a sharp and sudden decline, like Brian Clough’s. The league will be worrying about the future of one of their expensive outposts, particularly as the new Perth team seems to be slow out of the blocks.
On the Dogs, I listen to a not-particularly-good podcast by two Newcastle fans, who are full of spiteful glee at the influence of Adam O’Brien on the two clubs this season. “You picked a wooden spoon coach to run your attack, what did you expect to happen?” |

They tick over just fine these days, I think they made a profit last year, and obviously a downturn in fortunes would impact that but I think they have a solid base these days. Rich owners too so I think they'll be fine.
The NRL really screwed up by installing Mal Meninga at Perth. Terrible coach who's been living off his (admittedly incredible) playing legacy. They've made some decent signings but lack a big name or two, and with the new PNG club offering tax-free contracts the Bears will likely end up picking from the leftovers. I like Oledzki, but yes some of the others are so-so. You can however run a decent squad with a bunch of workmanlike players if - big if - you get your spine right. As I said, though, finding the big guns at 1/6/7/9 is likely to be where they struggle. | | | |

I still think there's this Leeds bias where 'if he plays for Leeds he must be good', when Leeds have been pretty pony for a long time now. I very much doubt Oledzki would be going to the NRL if he played for Wakefield.

Apparently Oledzki only qualifies for England through residency, not citizenship, despite growing up here. The vagaries of the international eligibility rules mean that a player who qualifies via that route loses his eligibility once he ceases to reside in said country. Meaning he might well not be able to play for England once he's moved to Australia. Add it to the list of bizarre outcomes in RL.
On your wider point, perhaps you're right. TBH I think the quality of player in this country is pretty low these days. Disco posted our pack from the 2003 Ashes earlier and that team would destroy the current England side. | | | |

No, often think of it, but can’t motivate myself, my son’s not interested these days. Used to be they lost all the time, now they win too easily! Try NRL360. The show is fantastic so I'm would say the pic is snippets of that.
It's amazing what Foran has done, then he's just asked them players to express them selves and play their natural game.

So first trip to Magic Round. Only doing the Saturday but some decent matchups Friday night.
Bulldogs still look dreadful and despite the roster can't see much improvement. Shsrks poor last week (changed tip to them after Latrell injury) bit got Ramien and Mulitalo back. Fancy Sharks.
Souths Dolphins could be anything. Could be 50 all. Think Souths will edge it.
Then my lot v Tigers. In true QPR style just the type of game we'd lose but Tigers injuries may be a little too much. Mindset seems different under Foz.
Shame Dearden out as thought Cowboys and Chooks would have been close. Can't see anything past Roosters
Storm Eels an interesting one coming off decent results last week. Think Storm nick ot and just in time to play Grant and Munster in form for Origin
Sunday with the exception of Wahs Broncos doesn't look overly competitive. Think Warriors will still have too much for the Broncs. Penrith Dragons doesn't beat thinking about. Thank God I didn't move to Kogarah or Wollongong. Either way, looking forward to a great weekend. | | | |

Wollongong at the weekend was pitiful, would have been about a quarter full without the Newcastle fans. The Dragons are a rabble, put up with wasters like De Belin for too long.

Terrible season for canberra raiders. From minor premiership winners to a bottom 4 side. Fallen off a crevasse.
we have Not come to terms with the new style of NRL and adjudicating style which weighs obscenely in favour of basketball style scoring end to end try fest with the balance between attack and defence wildly off kilter in favour of attack,
48-38 scorelines every game or 50 point blow outs settled before half time have ruined the game for the sake of so called entertainment. Magic round was about as entertaining as a pot of crown misty buff paint.
one of the best ganes i ever saw was last year between the bulldogs and penrith which ended in a 6-8 scorline. The Nrl is just like watching the harlem fking globetrotters every week. ruined.
