Anyone else noticed the new 4x4 tactic to wind you up. Pull up to a T junction where there is a left and right lane, and if they are turning right they angle themselves across the left lane, so that no one can turn left until they have turned right.

Its not a 4x4 tactic. Its a cnts tactic. I see it happen with saloon cars, estates, vans etc.

You are right there, but it seems a bigger proportion of them drive 4x4s.

Agreed and I think there is a high proportion of 4 x 4 drivers who have a total lack of spacial awareness, that and they think they own the bloody road........

These wretched vehicles are everywhere - bigger than transit vans and seemingly getting bigger. When parked they interfere whith visibility when you're trying to pull out from a side road. The traffic in London is bad enough but there cars are 50% bigger than most cars add make things worse. I'm not sure if they pay more road tax, it may be done on engine size rather than vehicle size. A pox on them say I.

Mostly driven by middle-aged women who use them to drop the kids at school and go to Tesco. It's a bit mad that you can pass your test in a Micra then go out and buy something the size of a tank.

I live in a village* that has no pavements, cars parked down one side of the road and a Primary school. Walking the kids to school in the morning is terrifying as these Dorset Burberry Panzers barge through pedestrians, block the road for the school bus, get into arguments with each other, knock off wing mirrors etc. They are utter cretins, the lot of 'em.

Personally, I hold out for the day when two of them get out of their 4x4s, dressed in the standard pyjamas, Barbour jacket and Kath Kidston welly combo and fight it out in the street to cries of 'Leave it, Oriana! She clearly isn't worth it!' whilst their black labradors (probably called Jasper and Roderick) bark furiously at each other. Is that too much to hope for?

Presumably its to protect their view to the left . Selfish tactic IMO

Vehicle duty is based on engine size for cars first registered up to somewhere around 2002 and since then on emissions.

There's no denying cars are getting bigger. A Mini is anything but.

Stand next to a modern saloon/hatchback then stand next to an old 1970's/80's Ford Escort and they look weeny by comparison.

Look at any 1930's suburban house and I'd say it's almost impossible to fit a modern car into the garage!

I followed one yesterday who couldn't judge how wide their Chelsea tractor was so they kept on braking every time a car came in the opposite direction. I think anyone who owns one of these that is not a farmer / landowner should be taxed up to the eyeballs and then double it.
Going back to the OP I get every night coming home from work. Leave the A40 at the Polish War Memorial and there are two lanes going up to a roundabout. Left goes to Ruislip which is always heaving, right goes down to the White Hart. There are always tw*ts who sit in the right lane and then turn left on the roundabout. Have actually had one cut right across me and drive over my foot once (I'm a motorcyclist).

My 4x4 is unfortunately too small to take up two lanes. But I agree that more and more new cars and their features, e.g. blinding halogen lights even when dipped, are designed to out-cnt everything else on the road.

A lot of that is to do with safety kit though and the numbers of deaths on roads has been coming down a lot for a long time.

One I have noticed recently is when there is a queue at a single lane T junction impatient dangerous drivers drive up the wrong side of the road to turn right.

Generally patience seems to be in short supply with drivers of all vehicles including cycles and pedestrians as well.

Although there is not much love for 4x4s on here (I dont have one) the worst drivers do seem to be young men in Vauxhall Corsas

And ironically, cars are getting bigger, houses are getting smaller.

had some gimp tail gaiting me this morning driving a 4x4 , I was doing 50 mph
now I was doing this not because im so doddery old fart but because its got fixed speed cameras and the limit is 50 mph this pr1ck then had the gall to beep me and give me the nescafe shake as he drove past
if it wasn't for the fact I give a lift to the sweet 62 year old Asian lady who I work with
then I would have got out at the next junction and bashed this cnt round the head with my lunch box

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

why people feel the need to drive less than a mile anywhere (unless its chucking it down) is beyond me. Once you have found (and in some cases paid) for parking, it cant be that much quicker.

over a third of car journeys are less than 3 miles. Ludicrous. no wonder the cars are getting larger, that's to accommodate the lard arses inside them! (plus all the other things mentioned above)

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it
