Mine was around September 1985 in that newsagent that used to be opposite The Coningham in Percy Road. Think it was called Starrys? Hayesender May know.

Me and my mate Paul C, who lived down Percy Road so knew the best time to get in there. We had been plucking up courage and planning it for ages. One would go in and distract the owner and give the all clear when the shop was empty, the other would scan for the best one to get and stick it inside a copy of Shoot or something. The most difficult not eas choosing which one to get. They all looked pretty decent to be honest.

All went surprisingly well and we got a copy of Men Only and Shoot with barely a murmer from the owner.

Became a regular event that did. Happy days.

Surely jazz mags had to be stolen, inherited, recovered from railway sidings/overgrown bushes down an alley, swapped, or borrowed on a very short term loan from your Dad’s stash in the garage/shed when your parents were doing a big shop? Never heard of anyone actually buying them.

Very true Konk, and we did find some tatty copies around the back of our primary school in Rylett Road once, but second hand tatty self love mags seemed a risk not worth taking even at that age.

I was a bit young. A lot of the extreme hardcore deviant stuff, the Micky Droy stuff, didn’t really make much sense to me at the time.

The one and only time i attempted to buy a dirty mag or chud as my mancunian school mate would say was when i left school and started my carpentry apprenticeship. Sort of an initiation test from the lads in the workshop. Ended up me nicking it as the newsagent wouldn't sell it to me.

Plenty of them in the fields and bushes over the Greenway in Hayes.

Jumpers for goal posts.....isn't it...….Marvellous.

Who was it that left mags in bushes?

Older brother’s third desk draw supplied my needs.

Funnily enough, my mum's catalogues always opened at the lingerie/swimsuit section. She shouldn't of had 3 boys.
Older brothers were great, for getting porn and getting the blame

Mine was a rental from a budding entrepreneur at school, I think it was a Playbirda but it might have been Lovebirds, i remember that Mary Millington was on the cover in white stockings and not much else. Inside there was also a cucumber!, I was amazed having only ever seen discarded rain soaked bits of playboys or Fiesta;s previously.

I was 10, maybe 11, got invited to a school chums house for a birthday party. Dale Collins was 'is name , parents house on Brook Rd, Wembley the venue. Great kid but a little scary. Six of us there and he had us compete in this armed conflict thingy using dustbin lids as shields and (I thought),rather sharp metal swords. Anyway, clash of the gladiators over we troop into his front room for the orange juice and cake, sit down on the couch and are goggle eyed at this fcking huge full frontal nude painting over the freakin' fireplace. She's gorgeous, long blond hair, dark eye shadow, ample assets....oooh. Then, Mrs Collins brings in the refreshments #$@&*%^$!@#)$...for she is indeed, the subject of the portrait! I couldn't sleep right for weeks.

Another odd thing....Dale says to me one day, "do you go to church"? Y'know, I'm fcking 10 years of age with Catholic parents, yeah I go to church. He says, "can I come with ya next Sunday"? Delighted I was to reply yes, who wouldn't want yer mate along to liven up a Sunday. All goes well, we're quietly arsing around as the Mass winds along - then the collection. Dale has no idea that this money shakedown is an essential part of the ceremony, he looks a little confused so I whisper, "stick 10p in the basket". He fires his silver in, then as its about to be whisked away, grabs the basket and starts picking out coins! I'm mortified, what in gods name is he doing, I want to die, my parents are watching me, I cannot look at anything but the carpet for the remaining 15 minutes.
Its over, we leave St. Erconwald's , I have not been able to speak nor look at Dale as the heat from my mother's eye's have made me melt into the floor. Finally, I get the opportunity, "wot the fck were you up to with the collection mate?"..."huh" comes the reply, "you said put 10p in the basket, I only had a 50p coin so had to root around for the change". Me and Dale never did religion again.

It was the Janet Frazer catalogue in our house. My mate and I were once looking at it surreptitiously when one of us knocked a cup of tea over the racy lingerie we were gasping at. Luckily, my mum saw the funny side of it.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Legend has it that David Sullivan used to offer magazines featuring women and horses for £60 in his more mainstream magazines. Eager punters would tear open the envelope with trembling fingers, to find a copy of Horse & Hound. Not many rang Trading Standards.

The only one I ever actually bought was Playboy when it had John Lennon's last interview. Honest Guv.
