Burton’s Burrell added out of the blue – Signing 27th Jul 2025 14:04
Totally under the radar, QPR announced the signing of Burton Albion forward Rumarn Burrell on Saturday evening for a fee rumoured to be in the region of £1.3m. 8

Genuinely excited by this signing simply because for him it is his big move. As you said, he's done the hard yards in low level football and then this move happens.
If he can get a few goals, then coupled with his hard work, we could really love him. I know the fans in the stadium will support him.

We look a very counter attacking team. Soak the pressure and then bang.

It’ll be nice just to have a CF who’s not sick, lame or injured.

2 words that is pure joy to QPR fans ears typed by Greg ( thanks for that magnificent upload) are poacher and rapid .
We have wasted so many chances over the last 2 years by strikers not being in the right place at the right time (poacher ) and snatching at chances (Field) rather than being already in position to simply slide the ball into the net .This alone can win us multiple games or at least finally claw back some draws from losing positions .
Rapid opens so many more doors for us causing pure panic amoung defenders so look for more penalties for QPR and many more bookings/red cards for opposition defenders trying to catch up.
Great way to start a sunday thanks to everybody involved

I’d settle for you who can score. He’s got pace . Last time we had that was BOS. That seems a life time ago.

The key for me is that we aren’t totally reliant on this lad scoring all of the goals. Chair, Dembele and Poku will also contribute. Having a front line all hunting for goals and having a pacy striker to work with must surely whet the appetite.

Great signing at exactly the right point in his development. Completed his apprenticeship, time to show what you have learned in the big boys league. Some patience will be needed, but the potential is there.

I think this is a good signing. Something else I have noticed about him in the video reels is that he seems to pop up all over the place up front - down the right, through the middle and on the left. That unpredictability is going to be really handy . If Frey can do his one hour shifts and Kolli, Lloyd and Bennie can come on and make nuisances of themselves then we're going to have a bit of ammo up front (I'm excluding Celar as he is pony)

I think that the concerns around him being a penalty box scorer are fair, but he's also got pace, which Celar does not... Also some very encouraging talk from Greg about him bringing attacking midfielders into play with runs between defenders / down channels, and clever cut backs. With a team swimming in inverted wingers and tens, that kind of support could be huge.

This isn't a team that necessarily needs a striker to score all it's goals, not when you have the likes of Chair, Poku, Dembele etc all capable of double figures.

We're always saying that we could have bought so and so when they were playing in League 1/2 and now they are out of our price range. I am glad we are trying to change that. He might be Connor Washington 2.0 but the fee is more sensible.

Seems a decent pick up.

And many knocking Mr Nourry but there is joined up thinking in getting in players that complement the general philosophy and way of playing.

Really, having Frey, Celar, Kelman, Kolli and Lloyd all have their good points as well as weak points, which will be the case with us, but they all so different, and it seems a lot of our players can only play in a limited number of ways but players up front that complement most of our other attacking players is a good way to go.

No rumours previous on this signing too.

I know nothing is proven as yet but it does appear that peter is taking account of paul....

Of course they will never come out and admit it outright, but silently the club is rectifying many of the mistakes made a year ago. Injecting pace, signing players used to 3 games a week, fans allowed on pre-season… I like it a lot.

Selling Kelman now for good money and not letting him run down his contract (or worse, get injured) another learning from the past.

I’m confident LB and CDM will be addressed shortly.

Then we only have the undisclosed contract length to moan about.

Fair do's to Nourry and the recruitment wonks. Not so long ago, I was pretty frustrated with the way things were looking squad-wise.

I am not going to name myself Dictator for Life of the Chairman Nourry Society For The Promotion Of Love Between Humanity And Robots based on the signing of a single forward but credit where it is due.

A year ago, the squad looked like it was collected from personal ads in 'special-interest' magazines and everyone was wondering what they were supposed to be doing, with whom and for how long. Right now, however, we seem to be getting a peek at what the club has been aiming to achieve.

It doesn't look complete (full backs?) but it certainly looks like somebody has a plan other than the previously attempted 'bring back X player', the lamentable 'Kia? Do you have thoughts on this?' and, of course, the classic 'So I said to Sharon...'

If we're going to have a crack at getting things right, we've got to start somewhere. Maybe this Summer is a step towards that? As I say, fair do's. If I'm going to call it out when I think things are wrong, I really should give credit if I think it's looking better.

Roll on August - it's the hope that kills you. 😀

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Spreading the goals around might be the way to go. Last season we had 23 separate scorers. So far this pre-season we've had 8 different scorers.

Has to be better than all your goals in one basket.

Things look a little on the up. Not sure we’ll see the immediate benefit as we talk about ‘gelling’ but if we can keep a half decent set of results in the first 6 games then maybe we’ll build reasonably quickly as a team.

Would definitely like to see that LB in though, maybe a decent loan is what’s needed now.

Pace?!? Que? Great write up and lovely content to devour!

Even if he’s not scoring from the get go at least it sounds like he’ll be running around quickly and defending from the front a bit

Totally agree, there are goals all around the team. After watching Larkeche a few times I’m beginning to get worried, obviously the boss is too as he wouldn’t have tried Adamson there. Mbengue says he can play there

What is this "pace" that you speak of?
1
Burton’s Burrell added out of the blue – Signing on 11:59 - Jul 28 with 5203 viewsdaveB

having a forward who can run in behind and stretch teams is a game changer for us, you saw it with lloyd last year and Armstrong the year before, the threat of his pace sees teams drop deeper and allows us to play a lot higher up the pitch and get the likes of Chair and Dembele on the ball in better areas.

No idea if this kid is any good or not but he's the type of forward we need

While I welcome the new striker, and both Poku and Mbengue look like promising additions, I still feel moderately worried about the squad as a whole and the new season. It might be me, I suppose, but I blame the club for the mostly terrible football they'd served up over the last couple of years and it's acculturating us to circling the drain.

Time will tell whether Kelman turns out to be good business or foolish misjudgment, and I'll be following his progress at Charlton with interest. I still feel a bit surprised and diappointed we haven't seen what he can do back in an Rs shirt after a superbly successful loan, but, whatever the factors involoved might be, I'm sure we won't be told because obviously the rule of industrial law would explode. I can't see why he wouldn't sign a new contract with us as his parent club if he's signed one at Charlton, so I presume it's the club's decision on the basis they don't think he'll be good enough and Burrell will be. On verra!

I guess much in football is unpredictable, and that's the beauty and terror of it. It's why you can have the loveliest business model on paper and still slide on the pitch, and why there's no necessary correlation, as I've shown, between income/wages and performance. Let's hope the wind's starting to turn.

top use of "acculturating". Thought it sounded a bit like Blackadder in the Samuel Johnson episode, but actually...a word I have never heard of :-)

I know Nourry isn't King of the Comms by any stretch, but why are you saying we haven't been told when we have - from the offish:

" Charlie expressed a desire to move on. When it became clear Charlie did not want to extend his time with us, we have worked with him to achieve this transfer while also acting in the best interests of the football club.”

Short of saying we offered him £x over x years but Charlton offered him y...or saying Stephan didn't rate him...or Kelman said you've fkd me about for 4 years, I'm off (things that no club would reveal), what exactly are you after?
