We had a truly woeful defender somewhere around the John Gregory period - Curtis? Guy almost literally couldn't run. Maybe he wasn't a loan but it's hard to believe we actually signed him and he was gone in short measure.

If I remember correctly Leon Best was on loan the season before I can remember being a Reading away when Cureton got sent off and I'm sure Best came on for his debut that day.
