FLW DEBATE: 60% OF THESE QPR FANS ISSUE NEGATIVE VERDICT AFTER CONFIRMED NEW PLAYER AGREEMENT

We all know they are ridiculous, but Christ it's getting worse by the day. This "60% negative reaction" was to Aramide Oteh signing a new contract with us. Can't imagine there would be a single QPR fan who would begrudge him that?

The actual question was "do you think he will have a flourishing career at QPR?". Well bloody hell, i imagine we'd all answer very unlikely to that! There were only 78 votes, half of them were probably Brentford fans. I'd say if 40% of the votes are saying he will have a flourishing career at Rangers, that's an incredibly positive vote if anything.

So pointless headline, pointless article, totally misleading. Utter bollox. Are these people supposed to be journalists, or are they teenage kids mucking about or something?

Ps Waiting for the first genius to reply "well, why bother reading it then?". Yeah, brilliant.

Just from the wording of the headline you should be able to identify it as click bait. So what do you expect from football league world? If you want reliable well written news go to a reputable source and leave the click bait alone.

As it's my profession I find the whole thing really depressing. Majority of the outlets that did proper journalism, investigating, asking hard questions, holding people to account have gone by the wayside to be replaced by clickbait garbage and politically biased sources peddling stuff that's exaggerated or an outright lie to sway you in their direction. Local newspapers now almost completely dead, and those that still exist have the worst websites in the country shovelling out clikbait crap. That was where journalists trained and cut their teeth, learned about the value of sources and actually picking up the phone and speaking to people rather than just churning press releases.

And people are buying it, lapping up this Prison Planet or Canary bullsht, clicking on these top ten of everything lists, placing their bets on which of Sky Sports News' made up stuff might be true.

Had an absolutely 100% genuine email from ASDA yesterday just letting me know of current offers etc but the Subject line read: You're too smart to not open this

Fk me, have we really got to the point where companies are stooping to this same shitty level??

Sadly we are at that point for the simple commercial reason which is that it works, hopefully it will wear itself out but until click through rates and return on advertising spend drops on this sort of crap drop, we are stuck with it

IMO ads on this site are not clickbait, they're just ads.

1 - They're adverts, I'm talking about articles.
2 - they're google ads related to your previous searches, so I'm getting sky ads at the minute because our box died and I've been searching for deals.
3 - you want to send us some money each month to pay for the site be my guest.
4 - the content bit of the site, the bit I'm in charge of, is unashamedly old style long form stuff. zero clickbait. Id' probably make twice as much money punching out daily stories saying "you'll never guess who we've heard qpr are after in january" but we don't, so give us some credit for that.

It's aggravatingly hard not to click though. I mean what, are you really going to scan down the list and not read any of them? I always check all of the basterds. The bugggers have worked out an effective strategy, but it's so p!ss poor it should probably be criminal.

So i try the BBC and have the pleasure to read about Real Madrid, Womens' Tennis and Tiger bloody Woods every day. You have to have been to a top university to be able to work out how to find the championship results, but i know every time Ronaldo takes a sh!t.

It is, indeed, depressing.

Ironically, on my screen, a line of three clickbait STORIES open directly below your first post. Your website, no doubt indirectly, hosts Taboola which seems to be one of the worst clickbait culprits. So you derive income from clickbait. I don't have a problem with that, nobody's forced to come here, just sounded an hypocrisy alert in passing.

and credit where it's due.

Blimey, got to defend Clive here. Feels like you're taking him very much for granted there. His site is absolutely priceless. Nobody forced to come here?!! The first thing i do every day is check to see if there is an article from Clive. Never cost me a penny and it is pretty much the highlight of every QPR game, he's the best thing QPR have by a mile. His articles are, quite literally, the best in Britain. Irreplaceable. We're privileged to have him. To think the QPR website tries to squeeze money for everything, this site is worth a gigantic fee. The hours he must spend on it. He should be writing for Have I Got News For You. If there is anything on there that generates some tiny recompense for all his phenomenal efforts on our behalf, i wouldn't come close to begrudging him. People can be so ungrateful at times. I'm trying to think of anything in life that causes me as much pleasure as Clive and doesn't cost me a penny ever and i'm struggling. If he stopped this site, it would be a catastrophe. I was honestly in bed last night hoping Clive outlives me, because the day anything happened to this site would be a dark day indeed. So i'm really not sure where the hypocrisy is coming from and to moan about Clive perhaps recovering a tiny portion of what goes into this (time is money) is just unfathomable to me. If i was a billionaire, i'd pay him heavily just to continue.

I only wish to Christ we could make him prime minister. Better yet, president.
