In light of OxfordR's niece's excellent film, thought it might be nice to have a thread with a list of Football Documentaries to watch in between abusing each other.

I also know a few posters on here have made their own so feel free to add:

Vaguely remember a Leyton Orient film from about 30 years ago by a film student called Jo Trehearne. Think it was called β€˜Club For A Fiver’ or something. Jo was on our 1994 When Saturday Comes jaunt to the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and was telling us all about it there. Think it was televised eventually and seem to remember it was very good. Often wondered what happened to her.

Yes, how did I forget that one and John Sitton!

This one should have won a prize at Cannes. I’ve watched it double figures. If you haven’t yet seen it I envy you.

The book 'The Miracle of Castel di Sangro' is absolutely amazing, and I'm always amazed there was no accompanying film documentary - or even a feature film.

Dramatised sports / football films are always tough to make because they always descend into sentimentality don't they.

Club For A Fiver is just superb.

Diego by Asif Kapadia is one of my all time favourites of any film.

The Phenomenon: Ronaldo (about the original Ronaldo) is also great.

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

Highlights from their miracle victory over Genoa, as told in the book.

Diego is astounding. I was lucky enough to see a screening at BAFTA on Piccadilly. My expectations weren’t too high but from the off with the rare super 8 footage of Maradona travelling from Naples airport to the Stadium accompanied by a thumping Georgio Moroder soundtrack I was hello this is interesting. The man’s life had the highs, lows, and pathos of a Greek tragedy. I left the cinema that sunny afternoon and I wanted cocaine, prostitutes, and a football (preferably an Adidas Tango) to do some keepy-uppies. I settled for a couple of pints of pride in the Red Lion off Jermyn Street. The film was living in my head for days.

It is absolutely excellent as you say.

Great nostalgia seeing the kids playing "Bobby Charlton's Casdon soccer". Used to love that game along with subbuteo &striker.

Now who were the three England managers with alliterative names? And no googling (well you can google β€˜alliterative’ if you like)! The clock’s ticking …

Enjoyed the Ken Loach directed β€˜Play for Today’ about Everton’s Alex Young (β€˜The Golden Vision’). Why can’t we have players called β€˜The Golden Vision’? It’s not fair.
