Thankfully Curtis and Guidollin have come in and rescued us. There was only one division we would have been in next season with Garry at the helm, we were last there five years ago.

Come on mate, we all loved Garry, but as a manager he was wrecking us. It's why he got sacked.

He was taking us back to where we were five years ago. The fact that the current management team turned it around doesn't mean he wasn't.

There's a strong possibility we would have gone down had he stayed but there's also the possibility we might not have.

Yeah I know, but be serious, there wasn't much possibility of us staying up, we were a sinking ship. The original point a few days ago was I thought the team with Gower, Orlandi, Kemi etc (I.e. 5 years ago) was better than the team Garry had left us with, not man for man, but as a team. Some donut, I know it want you, didn't think we should have progressed a long way in that time. I think that on the playing side, we were worse when he left than we were in either our last season in the Championship or our first in the Premier League. Thankfully we have moved on a lot in the last few months.

A couple less... Arsenal beat Watford - a draw would also do Man City beat Bournemouth - a draw would also do A couple more... I guess the Sunderland v WBA is the interesting one. If we lose to Stoke, I assume we'd want Sunderland also to lose, as not to close the gap, but if we don't lose to Stoke, we'd probably want WBA to lose, to keep them within sight.

As Laudrup was 2 years ago but no one goes on in the same way with the same vitriol as they do Monk. Laudrup took us to our first major trophy but also was taking is us back 3 years within a year of that "success"

Not doubting he did and I was scathing of Laudrup at the time. He took a hell of a lot of stick as far as I recall and rightly so. As far as I see it, Laudrup had the ability, but not the commitment. Garry had all the heart in the world, but was out of his depth and too stubborn to admit it. Out of the two, taking playing achievements out of it, I've more respect for Monk, but still think he took us right to the brink.

Hard to call. I hope Guidollin gets his chance and plays some decent football. I think he is far too savvy to allow us to get yo the kind of position we did this season. If Rodgers comes in, he will be a safe pair of hands, will play good football and we should survive fairly easily. Anyone else and I just don't know. The likes of Bielsa could take us to the next level or could be a disaster.
