Come on we have seen top class strikers miss balls coming in like that and wondered how could they miss from 5 yards. VDH is just a mid field player.
What? A professional player that can't kick a ball straight one yard? There are no excuses for that miss. None. The worst I've ever seen live in nearly 50 years of watching.
His performance was good and he's given us a whole new Amat, so I'm not criticising the bloke in general. That miss is inexcusable though, as was last weeks hand off. That could be two points he owes us. Lucky his initials aren't WR.

Yes exactly right. He gambled and was probably so concerned with sprinting up he forgot about the simple technique needed to tap it in ! Credit to him for having a great engine and wanting to win, most would have sat back and taken the loss .
I've been pleased with the hoon, has plenty of rough edges but seems to have a fck you attitude which I like in a defender , same with amat, they don't mind mixing it at all !
We are so close to hitting form and getting results, it's looking like this run of fixtures has brought the players tight and that will give them a boost when we get back to playing teams of a similar standard .
The hoon will improve greatly, so will amat , they both seem to have a mental toughness that is going to be essential this season.
We must look forward after Liverpool, there was much to take heart from even though it may not seem like it at the time .

Best strikers everywhere will miss the odd sitter. How many times have you heard "pundits?" say " it was harder to miss than score." Some of these will help you remember the absolute howlers, even by the likes of Torres
Fair play to VD Hoorn (not an euphemism (but possibly an ailment that needs treating, but surely the club could afford to add another 4 letters to the shirt and put his name in full) for busting his balls to try and get there and give us a chance of picking up points Couldn't have seen Freddie even trying. The Horn is definitely an upgrade on FF.
If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.
They really make you realise that scoring, especially on the run is not quite as easy as they usually make it look. Torres first in the first video is one of the worst after rounding the goal keeper and having an open goal and still managing to miss. I wonder how long it took him to live that down. They certainly put VDH's miss in to perspective.

Judging by the one he missed at Burnley which was probably easier, I don't think Fed would have done any better but having said that, there's no way he'd have got himself into that position in the first place.

With Amat making defensive clearances ala Ash Williams and VDH making charges upfield ala Ash Williams, maybe in the long run we made the right decision to sell Ash. Anyway well done VDH for having a go

He could have shut them all up just by doing his job to a minimum standard of just kicking the ball forwards.

Centre half or not, I agree with you, just need to put them away when your a professional footballer player at the top level.
