Just been given a file of old family letters and I know some people like this kind of stuff.
This one shows that in 1913 my great grandfather bought my great uncle out of the army for £18. He signed back up in 1914 and got killed in action in France in 1916. (We're a lucky family us)
The first ever recipient of a Planet Swans Lifetime Achievement Award.
Just found this on you tube didn't know it existed til this thread started and prompted me to look,my great uncle served on board.Just one of many tragic storys
Funny enough we went to Jersey many years ago, didn't know his grave was there, will have to go back one day.
Incredible historical pieces there dazzler. As has been mentioned museums would be interested in your stuff, as would your local comprehensive school's history department. I've been privileged to accompany several trips to the battlefields and visited many cemeteries. It's something everybody should do at least once in their lives.

I've been to Normandy, the lines of white crosses are hypnotic!

Are you going to Langemark in an official capacity?
The wife found Krieger's sculpture of The Mourners very eerie when I took her there,
Not in an official capacity. There was an application process, by welsh assembly, to go to the 31 July events in Belgium, i, haven''t heard anything yet, hopefully my WFA connections will help.

The grieving parents is equally moving.

I'm not sure how old you are, mate, but did you ever go to the old WFA meetings at The Fusilier on Walters Road by any chance?
The Grieving Parents. I'm sure there was a thread on that a year or so ago, unless my memory is playing tricks again? I first saw that Kollwitz sculpture at Vladslo I'd guess around the 1978/79 mark. It is, I think, the saddest thing I have ever laid eyes on.
An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.
