France Camping - couple of days on DDay beaches, sun and sand at Cote Sauvage, Bordeaux and the vineyards around St.Emillion.

Should be a cracker!

Sounds good. It's the sort of thing we normally do, but haven't arranged for this year yet. But it'll be something similar.

Have a look at the Yelloh Village at Cote Sauvage. Miles of beach with very few people, great cycling along the coast and through woodland etc.

Our first year doing the EuroCamp thing with the 3 nippers.

Driving down and having one night to break up the journey in a gite in Graignes, Normandy.

Then drive down to La Garangoire just East of La Rochelle, staying in the grounds of a big chateau for 10 days.

Can't wait!

Was planning on looking into it tonight funnily enough. Haven't been away for 3 and a half years. Last holiday was cancelled after the Russian jet was blown up over Egypt

It'll be first week of September. I want sun, watersports (jet ski etc.) and waterparks. Not after a cultural trip, just somewhere to pig out in the sun and unwind... Suggestions?

Not somewhere I'd considered - maybe a bit far for 7 days? But I'll have a look. Cheers

Hurghada airport security is pretty rigorous, but it was like that the last time.

Hotel security has been tightened, but I think that is more to reassure holiday makers than the actual threat of terrorism.

Been to Sharm and enjoyed but there's no watersports there to protect the coral (which was amazing for snorkelling). Is Hurghada different?

Thanks all

The museum in Caen is well worth a visit if you're doing the Normandy beaches.

We had a trip to France last year and stopped in Normandy on the way back. We stayed near Pegasus Bridge which we used as a base to tour mainly around the British and Canadian landing sites, we didn’t go to the American landing sites as we didn’t have enough time. There are some really nice little towns along the beaches and they all have their own memorials. The 360 cinema at Arrowmanche is good and there are lots of museums in the area including Bayeux which is a nice place to spend time. Visiting the war graves is very very moving.

There are some lovely beaches and resorts including Deauville where we stopped after visiting Honfleur.

Good Fruit de Mer in Honfleur but even better in Etretat ;-) Washed down with a trou normand. To be honest I wouldn't bother driving further - Normandy has everything. There again I'm biased. Lived there for a few years. Seriously it has everything. Driving is boring on holiday.

When the kids are back in school in September it will be somewhere within the EU since it will be our last holiday abroad whilst we are a member of it and will be nice for old times sake.

Already had a week at Paphos in Cyprus and in September will have our usual week on The Mon & Brec Canal. 2 different types of holiday but enjoy them both.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

Yes, there's much more water sports in Hurghada than Sharm, not that I do any, just the snorkeling for me (Sharm is best for that)

Good move. They'll be taking control of their borders and only Juncker knows what you'll be paying for a visa. Cornwall is good though in fairness- Port Isaac we like

The higher any possible visa fee they want to charge the better since it will obviously be
Reciprocated.

It will encourage us all to spend more holiday time and cash in the beautiful UK
and the economy will flourish.
