Glad Charlton done it.

Jack Ross might have a few decisions after today.

Reminds me of 1997 playoff final when the Swans conceded in the last minute.

Watching these last minute winners remind me of losing to Northampton at Wembley. Never seen so many tears that day.

Can remember going to the Valley years ago when they had that huge terrace along the side of the pitch and used to hold 60k.

Someone Frain wasn't it

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

John Frain. I just watched the video on YouTube after seeing this thread. I don’t recommend it.

How many fúcking free kicks do you ever see retaken for encroachment

15 years old, that disappointment toughened me up. Could it ever be as bad?

How many of you know what DP stands for?

I had been to Wembley previously to see a couple of American football matches and had tickets near the halfway line, views weren’t great and I wasn’t overly impressed with it as a ground considering the hype. The Northampton match was the first time I had been to a football match and what a dismal experience. On top of losing to a last minute goal, the view of the game was absolutely terrible as we were behind the goal.
After the match, we went to meet another mate in a pub in central London. At the time, you could buy a pint in Ammanford for about 90p, so I ordered 3 pints and got a £5 out. Barmaid served the drinks and just smiled as she stung me over £8 for the drinks, I couldn’t believe it and neither could my mates. Live and learn!

Even losing to Barnsley on pens wasn't as bad as that day. I remember feeling physically sick.

Absolute sickener.

That and the Barnsley playoff final loss on penalties were the two worst losses to take I can remember.

I wasn’t too chipper after Southampton last season neither. I was 450 miles away when that free kick went in in 1997, thank God. I was about 20 feet away from Akinfenwa and Tate, sadly.

It’s a cruel game sometimes.

Yeah, same. I was only 10 in 97 but can remember the Northampton game really well. Was at the Barnsley game too...those penalties were a sickener. Tate missed the decider if I remember correctly?

Also felt gutted coming out of the West Ham FA cup away game, Julian Dicks with the equaliser. Can see his strike now.

Amazing how those moments are etched in your mind.

Even more amazing how the downs cause deeper later reactions than the ups. For all the joy we might not have seen in 2011, as everything subsequent changes with different events, I still want that Northampton gimp to miss, and those two pens against Barnsley to go in. Why does anyone support football clubs?

Even Manure fans (I use the word loosely) will feel severe pain when the Scouse win the champions league AGAIN, after Man City have become unassailably the best team in the UK. And they’ve won everything there is to win. Football happiness lasts a very short time. It’s sad a lot of ours never even enjoyed it.

I remember when we went up from Div 4 via the play off when Terry Yorath was boss 1987/88
3-3 against Torquay made it 5-4 on aggregate.
Bonkers it was done like that back then!!

Bayo's pelanty in 2006 came close...

edit: this was covered between your post and mine.

I also remember a load of the guys I was with in 97 going for a piss ready for extra time only to come back to their seat to the rest of us looking ashen after the free kick. Play offs are an incredible way to go up but feck me the absolute pits when you lose.
