They probably knew they were riding the crest of a wave and it wouldn't be glory glory forevermore.
How many teams have been in the PL for all of it's years? 6 clubs... the big 6 minus Man City plus Everton.
How many have survived more than 7 consecutive seasons? 16 of the remaining 36 that have been in it (42 overall), which includes Man City, and four of those lasted 8 and four more no more than 10.
We were always gonna get relegated, anybody who thinks anything else is beyond.
However, we should never have gone down after our draw v Huddersfield. To not win any of the last 10 was beyond belief after winning 4 straight games at home within 6 weeks, including v Liverpool & Arsenal. What the hell happened? My point was the sale seemed to be all for personal gai, not fir the clubs welfare. The sneaky way it was sold behind the trusts back was disgusting, these people should not be allowed back into football, they are inherently untrustworthy. If we didn't offer similar wage deals / contract lengths etc, we wouldn't have signed any decent players and gone down with everybody moaning we didn't give it a go.

We really started wasting money when we dragged out selling players and then panicked to sign players in a limited time because the yanks wouldn't put the money in until we sold.
We planned, we dallied and then we panicked....we should have been spending before we sold the likes of Ayew, Williams and Gylfi.
Let's be fair, everything the old board said we were sold for, we did not see but yet they still can't admit they fooked up.
