Brentford have one of the best scouting and recruitment set ups in the league. They sell high but reinvest heavily. Watkins scored over 30 goals in 80 odd games before going to Brentford - he's always had an eye for goal, and converting to an out and out striker I bet was always in Brentfords thoughts.
You also fail to mention they've just paid what could be £10mill for a striker from League 1 so this analogy of them scratching around to fill a gap they have doesn't really ring true.

The way I saw it reported was they look for over performing players in over performing teams and it's been working. Even so you can't hope to make improvements by always going for the cheapest option or loan players. Sometimes you have to speculate.
I think we all suspect Ayew will go but we don't want to lose Rodon whatever happens. We have a very good back three, our team is built on that rock.

I think that he is our best player.... but he tends to be too selfish and loses possession regularly. I am also starting to really dislike his sitting on the floor looking for free kicks and moaning at the ref all the time. He needs to pass to his team mates and show a bit of trust in them.
Bale also does this when playing for Wales.

Yeah i see that with him all the time.
He beats his man, or does the hard bit, then tries to do something else with it instead of making an easy pass. He's obviously a seriously talented player, but feel he tries to do too much which often ends up with him being on his arse.

Ayew won't be anywhere near the value needed. You will save in wages but not have the short term cash input which a sale of Rodon would entail.
