| Joe Pigott, 200k typical swans investment 21:03 - Sep 29 with 7098 views | KeithHaynes | News out tonight folks, Swans definitely in for AFC Wimbledon striker. Its only tentative talks, but after a phone call this afternoon, this isn't speculation, this could easily happen by Saturday.Swansea City are weighing up a move for AFC Wimbledon striker Joe Pigott. The 26-year-old enjoyed a fruitful season last term, scoring 18 goals for Glyn Hodges’ side and he’s started this campaign in similar fashion with him recording two goals and four assists thus far. The Swans face competition from Reading for his signature, with it reported he could be available for a cut-price fee in the region of £200,000 The Swansea Independent believes there's no smoke without fire here, and contact tonight with allies of the site point to this being an Andy Scott recommendation to Julian Winter, 200k is an absolute steal.

I suppose he could do a job!!!!! There again we did did pay £800,000 or player who scored 6 in 46 last season (Championship's equal 64th top scorer) 1 goal in every 577 minutes. (for comparison - last season Routledge score 1 in every 238 minutes) Wasn't Cooper's mate suppose to be scouting players? [Post edited 30 Sep 2020 8:28]

And they are sourcing players at budget prices because funds for more proven players won't be released by whom?

Give me Andy Scott's job and salary and I'll tell you. (But to wouldn't be a lump it up and hope forward who rarely scores.) But why buy a player for the sake of it? We should have learned that doesn't work. Our bargain successes were already proved or impressed - for me this bloke really doesn't do it. Do you really think a 26 a 7 goal (league 1) a season player is worth spending money on?

You need to audition for his job first. Have a go, find someone.

If he's clever enough it makes up for pace and we need someone on the end of Bidwells crosses. Would it become Lowe-Piggot-Ayew? That looks quite tasty, assuming Piggpt comes AND is any good.

As I'm not the clubs accountant, I can't really answer that. However, i believe there should be enough there to allow us to spend more than the sums we linked to spending.

Seriously? With us on our last parachute payment, still funding Ayew's contract (having to borrow from Jake Silverstein to do that) and absolutely zero matchday income until who knows when you think we could be spending more?

| Joe Pigott, 200k typical swans investment on 00:27 - Sep 30 by Dr_Parnassus | Agree. Add Dyer and Williams to that list. £500k and £400k respectively I think. The fee isn’t important. I honestly think if there was two players for sale of exactly the same ability, one price set at £5m and the other set at £100k, many of our supporters would want us to get the £5m player. |
Absolutely. And what it all such the farce is if his name was Piggotski or Piggota he would be £5m+. The EPL teams are sickening esp right now, continuing to spend stupid money instead of investing in our domestic pyramid.

Over £70mill net profit on transfers since the prem (could well increase in the next few weeks) similar amount from parachute payments. A wage bill a fraction of what it was&an academy downgrade as well as a loan from the Americans. In the whole time since we've left the prem we've paid Ayew say £15mill&he's far and away our highest earner. The rest probably amounts to say £50mill max? Other income from sponsorship / merchandise too should cover other expenses. What am I missing?

Spent most of his career playing in the South of England apart from a few games on loan at Newport. You would think Reading are favourites. As regards the poster who asked who should we be signing Ivan Toney jumps out but has signed for Brentford out of our price range unfortunately. But that sort if player could be worth over 20 million in a couple if years like Ollie Watkins and Mauphay. [Post edited 30 Sep 2020 11:22]

What are you missing? Start with the last published accounts which show a £7m loss and work from there. Why guess when it's there in black and white?

Agree with your assessment. A different player from our other forwards but that is exactly what we need. He just needs to lead the line, find the space, anticipate the pass/cross and find the finish. If the team is functioning this lad will score goals I'm sure...on the flip side if joined an average team, he wouldn't necessarily get the chances.

Ok I will start there, what is the club spending money on that would incur a loss despite all the income we are / have received? Not disputing what the accounts say but they also do not tell us how much is actually in the pot at the start and end of the time they cover. Plus theres always some jiggery pokery over the timing and period covered. I.e. player sales not included, but will be included in the next one set etc [Post edited 30 Sep 2020 12:02]

The accounts are all there for you. Sixth entry. Suggest you pay particular attention to the Independent Auditors report starting on page six, particularly the bit that says "Material uncertainty related to going concern". Like I said. There's no need to speculate. It's there in black and white and signed off by an auditor. If you have evidence to the contrary by all means let's hear it. https://beta.companieshouse.go

Get over it we are not in the PL anymore and in the middle of a pandemic some realism is called for. Spending big money does not guarantee success either as Stoke have found out. I am happy with the way the club is being run we need it to be sustainable plenty will go to the wall in the next 2 or 3 years. [Post edited 30 Sep 2020 12:48]

He,s not a world beater, but likes to get forward e.g wing back cover for Bidwel he can also play in midfield, he,s free and knows the system we like to play. Thoughts? I agree. But what’s big money? £1.5m is big money compared to £200k. We are seeing the results of very poor ownership over the last 5 years.
