| As it stands, the swans do great business on deadline day 17:40 - Oct 16 with 3214 views | SwansIndependent | As it stands, the swans do great business on deadline day 16th Oct 2020 17:36Ryan Bennett from Wolves, Joel Latibeaudiere from Manchester City, Ryan Manning from QPR all on permanent deals. Loan deal for Kasey Palmer from Bristol City with a January call back clause. Joe Rodon joins Spurs as expected, again subject to a deal sheet. Time will tell how this will affect the swans promotion campaign but it’s been one of the busiest ever transfer deadline days. Throw in to the mix Fabio Borini as a free agent could also join. And the day has been anything but boring. 0 If you want to remove this post from the board index, just click the hide post icon below. | As it stands, the swans do great business on deadline day on 18:38 - Oct 16 by onehunglow | That our defence has been fine has been down to Rodon mainly. Woodman has much to learn and needs to put a stone on at least. |
Our defence has been good even when Rodon has been out with lengthy injuries. His fellow CBs have done a sterling job as well. One thing Cooper can do is organise a defence so I think the experience brought in will only help in that dept. I think the Championship is much weaker this season so a solid defence could go a very long way. Particularly if we end up in the pay offs again. Unusual for me but I am optimistic at the moment :-) [Post edited 16 Oct 2020 19:05]

Think in losing Rodon that the business we have done as made us stronger. Fingers crossed that Manning comes in aswell, got a good feeling on this lad.

I feel we have a much better squad than we had 10 days ago, but our starting 11 is slightly weaker. I'm very optimistic for the rest of the season.

Bennett brings a lot of experience to the defence. Joe was still learning his trade and did have the odd rush of blood to the head. I think we are now better prepared for the season and if we can get Borini over the line then that will only strengthen the starting line up further, Who knows? Time will tell. At least we have tried to make a fist of it this time imho.

Would disagree, think Bennett's experience will strengthen the starting line up. As much as the fee for Rodon is disappointing, the incoming have made up for it. Well done the board 👠

I agree I think that Bennet's experience will be a great asset to such a young team. Brendan had him on loan at Leicester last season.

We needed that experience plus bringing in this kid from Man City, we have a talented kid to step in and hopefully help blossom his talent. Not been this positive as a Swansea fan for quite a while.

Well done the board........ We have just sold our best player for 50% less than we should have. Unbelievable.

Who else was queuing up to pay £22 million for Joe?

| As it stands, the swans do great business on deadline day on 19:56 - Oct 16 with 730 views | MartinSwan | You have to distinguish the work done on transfer day into its two components. With regards to improving the squad Steve and Andy have done an excellent job to improve the overall squad whilst basically spending no money at all. That is a huge credit to them. With regards to sales we managed to sell our biggest asset for half price, which was an unmitigated disaster and in any other business would have resulted in the individual being sacked, that’s Julian Winter in case anyone isn’t sure who is responsible. The fact that Steve and Andy have been able to pull out some great deals in no way diminishes the absolute capitulation we have seen in Joe’s sale from £18m-£20m with a season long long back to £11m with some potential add ons. It’s the equivalent of selling a Bentley for half price. A Complete disgrace | | | |

People can/wil complain we haven't spent any money but while accepting the fee for Rodon isn't enough, it's enough to see us through a troubled financial period. I think pragmatism is the order of the day.

No money at all, so who is paying the wages of the newcomers?

Correct he has only played 50 plus games over two seasons due to his injuries. A couple million more on his fee would have been better pity we don't know what the add ons are.

You mean who is paying the salaries for the second smallest squad in the championship.Well hopefully the club, second smallest squad to help Steve Cooper get promotion for us. We are so lucky that Steve is being backed with 5 loan signings and 1-3 free agents. With that level of investment by the Owners supported by Mr Cold if Steve doesn’t get us promoted he must be incompetent. Or perhaps Steve isn’t the incompetent one, it’s vice versa.
